Although Michelle Obama has earned the derision of conservatives for her anti-obesity campaign, she has a fan in Mike Huckabee. The former Arkansas Governor and Republican presidential aspirant insists that ?we should be thanking her and praising her for what she?s done? in addressing a ?national security? crisis ? the growing number of American children unfit to serve as trigger-pullers and coffin-stuffers for the imperial military.
?Seventy-five percent of the kids who are recruit-age for the military cannot pass the physical, because they?re obese by Army standards,? lamented the Huckster in a recent interview, reciting a soundbite from a Pentagon lobby called ?Mission:Readiness ? Military Leaders for Kids.? (Interestingly, he began to say ?draft-age,? catching himself after the first syllable.) ?It is a national security issue,? he continued. ?We better hope we don?t have a war with anybody because we?re not going to have anybody who can pass the physical to wear the uniform.? Oh, horror of all imaginable horrors.
It somehow slipped Huckabee?s mind that ?we? ? meaning the government that afflicts us ? is already engaged in two major wars and several peripheral ones. He likewise seems to have forgotten the exchange with Rep. Ron Paul in a 2007 GOP presidential debate in which he insisted that we must continue to send young Americans to kill and die in Iraq in order to vindicate the ?honor? of the government that started that war on false pretenses.
Mr. Huckabee is an ordained minister of the variety who is more interested in feeding Molech than in serving the Prince of Peace.
