The Mike Leach era at Washington State finally reaches the practice field today as spring practice gets under way. Leach was hired in November to bring in his high-powered passing offense to a team that has posted a 9-40 record the past four years. It helps that quarterbacks Jeff Tuel and Connor Halliday both started last season and have some all important game experience. Leach said the one who makes the best decisions and who is accurate will lead his team. Leach will have 6 starters returning on offense, including 3 offensive line starters to work with. The 50 year old coach was 84-43 at Texas Tech, leading the Red Raiders to 10 bowl appearances in 10 seasons. He was fired in 2009 amid allegations he mistreated 'Pretty Boy' Creig James son. I don't know how many games Washington State will win this year, but I guarantee you the Cougars will be fun to watch.

I agree Mr. L.

I hope Leach takes James and ESPN to the cleaners with his lawsuit for the way the network covered for their Pretty Boy.

As you know being from Lubbock, Leach never had the bigtime recruits at Texas Tech, yet he won. I believe he will do the same thing out in Pullman, Washington.

What I find funny is Craig James is trying to run for office in TX and from what I have heard, he is the most hated politician in TX after 5 months or so.

Also, as you mentioned Leach always did the most with the least. No matter what, the games were at least entertaining. We always knew TX, and AM, were generally going to beat us, but with the ridiculous, dynamic offense, there was always a chance and I never missed a game.
I might have watched 1/2 of 2 games last year. Awful:sadwave:

I think you're going to be getting a better version of Leach. IMO this time will do a lot in the way of helping him.

You'll get unlimited 4* QBs and some descent WRs and will do well on offense. The question will be whether he will recruit defensive players or even a bigger question is whether he'll be willing to recruit stud athletes and use them on the defensive side of the ball. He didn't do that at Tech and our D paid for it.

It will be a fun ride for you. It will be VERY entertaining and the students will LOVE him. He did great things at Tech and more than anything I think he changed the atmosphere at The Jones.

I'll be rooting for him to do great things for you guys and I'm pretty sure 95% of Tech fans are with me on that.

I'm a southern guy who loves college football. I also appreciate a player or coach who has excelled in what they do. Mike Leach did one hell of a job during his time at Texas Tech. One has to be dumb and non-football to think Leach was treated fairly by the Texas Tech BS brass for firing him. He won in Lubbock for God's sake year after year with 2-star and 3-star rated players. New coach Tommy Tuberville NOW understands the difficulty of recruiting top Texas athletes to Lubbock. Tubbs will be gone within the next couple of years and the PIRATES worth will increase.

Dumbass Ole Miss had a great opportunity to land Leach and blew it...now in three years they will be looking for another new coach.

Nothing personal, I've been to Lubbock and Austin and Houston and Dallas and there is a much different world for the glory eyed hotshots in those spots than Lubbock
