Mike Vick vs. Mary Winkler

(Let it be noted I do not condone either of these people's action. Let's just compare.)
1.In Selmer Tennessee, Mary Winkler killed her husband in cold blood. Gunshot to the back while he was asleep with 3 kids in the house. Packed up kids and went to Orange Beach AL. Claimed phyisical and mental abuse from husband as motive. Went to nuthouse for evaluation and is released under supervision and got some probation time. Note husband was a preacher.
2.Mike Vick fronted cash and property for dog fighting ring. Destroyed dogs that were unworthy of competion in barbaric methods. Transported dogs across state lines to engage in illegal fighting competions.

Why did he get 23 months & she walked?:nooo:

This has to be the dumbest comparison ever brought up. WTF does one have to do with the other?

Were these dogs abusing Vick for years before he tortured them to death? Sorry, you're trying to make a connection that isn't there.

Human life compared to an animal's life. Are you an idiot? It's just a comparison of jail time for taking an animals life vs. a human life. I see meaningless comparisons on this site constantly. Open your mind.

Again, you are trying to draw a comparison and it just isn't there. Animal cruelty is against the law. We euthanize thousands of dogs a day in this country, so saying we value animal life more than human doesn't fly. He broke a law, period. She did too but was found not guilty for good reason.

BTW, what difference does it make her husband was a Preacher?

It goes to show everyone that a jury this day and time are more compelled for a conviction against animal cruelty than violence against humans. Does not matter if the guy was a preacher, welder, or pizza delivery guy I was just stating the facts.

Far from innocent. Shot the guy in the back while sleeping. There could have been more ways out of that marriage than that. You know it.

You're kidding, right? When you have overwhelming evidence against you and your cohorts actually testify AGAINST you, you're going down. I don't care if you're in a dogfighting ring, laundering money, or diddling little kids, you're going to be convicted.

In the interest of full disclosure I have no idea the specifics of the Winkler case, but if the evidence against her was as damning as it was against Vick, then yes, she should have went to the graybar hotel as well.

It's cool though, he's a professional athlete so he could molest small farm animals and people would still look up to him as a role model. Nevermind the fact that he's a criminal and can probably only read at a 2nd grade level.

Oh... and while we're talking about him as an athlete, let's not forget that little bit about him being a shitty QB.

You guys are getting caught up in the details for the sake of arguing...which isn't far from normal here.

He could have inserted any number of rape, drug, etc cases to use an example.

I do think it is an interesting quality of our society. The public outcry towards animal cruelty is above and beyond similar crimes towards mankind. Maybe it has to do with the idea that animals are defenseless. Much the same with horrible acts towards children, which does bring the same public outcry.

How's about we not get caught up in the details and discuss this reality. I do find it interesting.

BTW, vick got what he deserved, but this isn't what the topic was about.

I understand where Slink is coming from. He's not saying Vick shouldn't have recieved jail time; we all know he deserved it. I think Saint is on track too.

Agent, he's not comparing spousal abuse to dog abuse, he's comparing human life to animal life. Wife kills hubby in cold blood, no jail time. Vick assists in dog killing/cruelty, jail time.

I'm an animal lover, and I am a steward of wild animals. I do not think an animal's life can EVER be equated to that of a human though, not in any circumstance.
