On the course!
Who the fuhk is Jimmy Osting?

Well, they tell me that he is a lefty, and he's starting for the Brewers tonight.

Pittsburgh send Brian Meadows to the mound, and what the hell has he done lately?

One this that always seems to ring true in the late part of baseball seasons, is that no name pitchers seem to rock there oponants to sleep! Osting had a 3.35 era in Indianapolis (AAA) but an unimpressive record at 5-6 in 20 starts.

Considering the fact that Milwaukee scored 10 runs last night, and it was more than their last 3 games totaled, I doubt that we see that agin tonight.

Pittsburgh has lost 7 in a row, and with that funk, comes shittier baseball.

I think the Brewers are in a great position as an underdog tonight. Right now, they are +130

Couple this with my feelings on a new pitcher dominating the batters he faces (and Pitts bats being awful!) and the fact that the Bewers can't score on a regular basis.........I would also look at the under 9'

Actually, the under gets a little more of a nod from me than the side.

3 units-----Mil/Pit under 9' -110
2 units-----Milwaukee +130

Good luck today!

I would completely agree with you that this time of year many noname pitchers walk into a game and get a W and there are many good dogs there to be found. However, on that total, if the new guy gets nervous or has control problems due to the gitters, today is not a day to take an UND as J. Nelson a 16-6 OVR ump is behind the plate. I am not saying it's a bad play because I agree with your logic, but the UMP has a strike zone the size of a dime.

Good luck,
JD

Osting info

edit: some trends..

Milk under is 4-0 this season next night after scoring 10 runs or more previous night and winning.

Pitt under is 10-3 after allowing 10 or more runs this season.

from Milk Jrnl Sentinel:

The lowdown: Brewers left-hander Jimmy Osting will make his first big-league start tonight. Osting, called up last month, had been scheduled to start earlier this month but experienced shoulder soreness while throwing in the bullpen and was later placed on the disabled list. After one strong rehabilitation start by Osting, the Brewers sent down Ruben Quevedo, whom they expect to be with the team next season, to add Osting, whom they still aren't sure about. "Our starting staff is one thing that has not been solidified," Royster said. "If he finishes off well, he has a hell of a chance to be in the starting rotation next year." Osting has just two innings of big-league experience, making three relief appearances for San Diego last season. "He is a crafty left-hander," Royster said. "We hope he throws a bunch of strikes and puts the ball in play quickly."

from sportsnetwork preview:

Brian Meadows gets the call this evening for the Bucs. Meadows was tagged with the loss in his last trip to the mound after permitting six runs on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals. He fanned five and did not walk a batter, while serving up one home run.

The setback was the righthander's third in as many starts. Over that time, he has allowed a total of 10 runs on 20 hits in 16 2/3 frames. Meadows has given up one home run in each of his three outings and is aiming for his first big- league victory since May 10, 2001, when he defeated the Cleveland Indians as a member of the Kansas City Royals.

Lifetime, he is 1-4 versus Milwaukee. This will be the 26-year-old hurler's first appearance of the season against the Brewers.

Jimmy Osting counters for the visitors. Osting was given a spot in the Brew Crew's rotation after Ruben Quevedo was sent down to the minors. Quevedo was counted on at the start of the year to be a key member of the staff, but his 6-11 record and 5.76 earned run average prompted the team to send him down. The righthander had lost his last four starts.

Osting, meanwhile, was 5-6 with a 3.28 ERA for Triple-A Indianapolis. In 21 starts, he permitted 107 hits and 47 runs -- 44 earned -- over 120 2/3 frames. The lefthander will be making the first start of his career. He appeared in a total of three games for the San Diego Padres a year ago, yielding one hit in a pair of innings.

This will be his first lifetime appearance versus Pittsburgh.

The Brewers are a National League-worst 18-44 on the road, including 3-13 since the All-Star break. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, is 0-5 on a current seven-game homestand and 26-37 in 2002 as the host.

The Pirates own a 10-4 advantage in the season series, notching four wins in seven attempts in the Steel City. They are 21-10 in this matchup over the last two years.
