My big play is actually going to be on the total, which i'm seeing at 128.5 at some books, but my line isn't up yet.
My play will be on the over, but I think I will find a better line than 128.5. My theory is two fold because I see this game going in two possible directions.
Minnesota has all sorts of revenge factors on their brain, in fact Michigan beat them by 30 last year in Ann Arbor. They very well could hang a 40 on Michigan 1st half and Michigan will quit in the 2nd half if their 3's stop falling...like vs Purdue. A 40-32 score at half would not shock me.
The other part of my brain says Michigan OWNS Tubby Smith. Now a lot of that had to do with DeShawn Sims being a terrible match-up problem for him, but Michigan and more importantly Beihlein NEEDS this win. I'm expecting a close game from a desperate team vs an angry team wanting revenge. I think you see 12-16 points scored in the last 2 minutes to get this game over the number due to fouls and Michigan desperation.
Deep down I think Michigan pulls it off, whether it be home court calls or just the comfort of their own rims which seems to help Novak, Douglass, Smotrycz and company. But the smarter play is on the total. Minnesota edge is obviously in the paint with Sampson and the arrested dude, but I don't think Tubby likes to play that way. Keep Hoffarber under 20 and Michigan SHOULD win.
Predicted score:
Michigan 68 Minnesota 65
Record on Michigan games is 21-4 past 2 seasons.
