Been posting kinda skimpy threads lately so, being in a generous mood after yesterday's score, I'm gonna give yas the DELUXE EDITION for today's copy of "Jim's Official Philly Pick Sheet". There's more words in here than the sum of all the words in replies I've ever gotten (cept maybe for one or two from Hogman). Enjoy, I don't know when I'll be doing this again. LOL
One of the worst race cards I've seen in a long time today. Maiden, maidens, and more maidens, and they're all genuine Philly DIRT BOMBS. BUT, strangely enough, I know that whether or not I love or hate what the entries look like on any particular day - fact is that has little or no effect on whether I win or lose on that day. Go figure.
There's only two PLAYable races today, the 5th and the 7th. I also see some decent possibilities for the 2nd race.
Race 2: Sometimes it's easier to nail an exotic bet than to just pick ONE winner in a race. Surely NOT theoretically/logically/mathematically - but in certain situations this cwaziness could be the way to go. In this field of only 8 horses (BTW, wouldn't doubt that a day like today, IF THEY RUN RACES TODAY, may result in scratches in this race and in that case - playing this race at all goes out the window) I see only 4 that appear to have a chance. In fact, I'm thinking that those FOUR just may be the first 4 to hit the finish line! AND, there should be a gap between the 4th one to hit it and the 5th nag. Along those lines, trifectas are the way to go. Now, boxing 4 horses is just too expensive in a field of absolute over aged, maiden dirt bags and the payoff just may not even warrant such a bet of that size anyway. So we gotta use the "filter".
Not gonna go into details about the "filter", but here's what it "boils" down to --> tri boxes, 1/2/4 and 1/2/6. The "pros" will say this is a dumb, dumb, dumb bet ESP. due to two of the nos. being the same on both tickets, but I never claimed to be a genius. Gotta admit that - IF I could see the odds that each is going off at, then I may be better off playing this race a bit differently. But today's schedule for me means that I won't be able to watch this race LIVE and that means NOT being able to see the prerace stuff.
Oh, one other thing... there is one "non contender" that I'm still a bit afraid of in here, no. 8 whose M.L. is 8-1 and may even go a little higher. Side play is in order for that one and that shouldn't hurt too much due to it's generous odds,
Race 5: Zactas, 6,7 top/bot 1,3,4. Gotta admit that I'm pressing a bit for a price here with the nos. 6 (10-1) and 7 (12-1). That doesn't mean that they are merit-less though. If I'm right about one of them hitting the zacta, odds are very good that the exacta will score and the payoff will be quite worthwhile.
Race 7: Didn't think there was an interesting race on the card at first but this race turned out, AFTER AN HOUR OF CAPPING IT, to be verly interlesting. I give the fav. a 50/50 shot at hitting the zack and IF it doesn't this race should pay some generous Philly Phunny Bucks. That doesn't mean that it's an easy one to figure and not being familiar with the runners in this race makes it all that more difficult. Can not separate FIVE contenders, yeah F-I-V-E. And how bout their nos.--> 1-2-3-4-5 in this full field. There they are foryas. Oh, AND taking "all" the inside post positions in a 5 1/2 furlong wace is cwazy too. For me?... .. I gotta see them on the track to narrow them down some mo. I believe I will be able to see this race live today.
That's it for now, Philly Wacin Phans
