Been posting kinda skimpy threads lately so, being in a generous mood after yesterday's score, I'm gonna give yas the DELUXE EDITION for today's copy of "Jim's Official Philly Pick Sheet". There's more words in here than the sum of all the words in replies I've ever gotten (cept maybe for one or two from Hogman). Enjoy, I don't know when I'll be doing this again. LOL

One of the worst race cards I've seen in a long time today. Maiden, maidens, and more maidens, and they're all genuine Philly DIRT BOMBS. BUT, strangely enough, I know that whether or not I love or hate what the entries look like on any particular day - fact is that has little or no effect on whether I win or lose on that day. Go figure.

There's only two PLAYable races today, the 5th and the 7th. I also see some decent possibilities for the 2nd race.

Race 2: Sometimes it's easier to nail an exotic bet than to just pick ONE winner in a race. Surely NOT theoretically/logically/mathematically - but in certain situations this cwaziness could be the way to go. In this field of only 8 horses (BTW, wouldn't doubt that a day like today, IF THEY RUN RACES TODAY, may result in scratches in this race and in that case - playing this race at all goes out the window) I see only 4 that appear to have a chance. In fact, I'm thinking that those FOUR just may be the first 4 to hit the finish line! AND, there should be a gap between the 4th one to hit it and the 5th nag. Along those lines, trifectas are the way to go. Now, boxing 4 horses is just too expensive in a field of absolute over aged, maiden dirt bags and the payoff just may not even warrant such a bet of that size anyway. So we gotta use the "filter".

Not gonna go into details about the "filter", but here's what it "boils" down to --> tri boxes, 1/2/4 and 1/2/6. The "pros" will say this is a dumb, dumb, dumb bet ESP. due to two of the nos. being the same on both tickets, but I never claimed to be a genius. Gotta admit that - IF I could see the odds that each is going off at, then I may be better off playing this race a bit differently. But today's schedule for me means that I won't be able to watch this race LIVE and that means NOT being able to see the prerace stuff.

Oh, one other thing... there is one "non contender" that I'm still a bit afraid of in here, no. 8 whose M.L. is 8-1 and may even go a little higher. Side play is in order for that one and that shouldn't hurt too much due to it's generous odds,

Race 5: Zactas, 6,7 top/bot 1,3,4. Gotta admit that I'm pressing a bit for a price here with the nos. 6 (10-1) and 7 (12-1). That doesn't mean that they are merit-less though. If I'm right about one of them hitting the zacta, odds are very good that the exacta will score and the payoff will be quite worthwhile.

Race 7: Didn't think there was an interesting race on the card at first but this race turned out, AFTER AN HOUR OF CAPPING IT, to be verly interlesting. I give the fav. a 50/50 shot at hitting the zack and IF it doesn't this race should pay some generous Philly Phunny Bucks. That doesn't mean that it's an easy one to figure and not being familiar with the runners in this race makes it all that more difficult. Can not separate FIVE contenders, yeah F-I-V-E. And how bout their nos.--> 1-2-3-4-5 in this full field. There they are foryas. Oh, AND taking "all" the inside post positions in a 5 1/2 furlong wace is cwazy too. For me?... .. I gotta see them on the track to narrow them down some mo. I believe I will be able to see this race live today.

That's it for now, Philly Wacin Phans

Sheesh, I can not believe this :0

I just hit the enter key and there have been 25+ "visitors" at 6 A.M. who viewed this thang. UNfluckin Real? :0039

Now don't take this wrong cause I don't really know ANYone here.. but I gotta believe that every one of them wouldn't even know the front of a horse from the ... ah, ... . . ah, .. BACK of a horse.

I just don't get it? :mj03:

While I'm here I just gotta relate a quick story to yas. I've been getting some heavy duty dental work done lately and last week while in the waiting room I'm noticing that EVERY person there is starring at this little thing a ma jig in their hands. AND.. .. every new person who came in, promptly took out their thing-ah-ma-jig and kept starring at theirs. I'm sitting there, scratching my head and thinking that I NEVER ever realized or could possibly have imagined how lonely and bored people musta been before these thangs. It's kinda sad. Actually, very sad. I really think of that a lot lately.

Sorry bout the offbeat topic.

SO true. I fall guilty of this as well, but try to keep it to a minimum. It's good in a lot of ways, but terrible in a lot of ways. We'll see where we are socially years from now when you can't pick up the phone anymore, or have to actually write someone a letter. :toast:

I meant to write here to you HM that your TIZNOW horse was running today and I did like him too.

As you can see, I didn't play him alone today and wound up getting a scratch and my moola back for the 2nd race.

UT OH.. other stuff
Never thought about what you are saying about the mania that's going on. Young guns are going from balloons to blimps and they're gonna need glasses well before their time. Just terrible.

edited: added to YOUR quote, "SO true. I fall guilty of this as well, but try to keep it to a minimum. It's good in a lot of ways, but terrible in a lot of ways. and your ONLY friends and in some cases - your only real FAMILY left are the cyber phonies.

And while we (make that the addicts, not me) are aging faster than ever before along with these electronic enticements/aphrodisiacs/TOYS; we (THEMS) are getting milked every month for the "services" they provide. These little boxes that are attached to most folks bodies do serve a great service for traveling sales people, emergency service providers like police, firemen, rescue squads, medical personal, and plenty more types of folks and even the very few who may keep them in a lock box for use in emergency situations and NOT for the masses and children whose parents are getting absolutely milked every month and at "upgrade time" in order for them to tell the world about every time they take a breath and fact is. - the world really doesn't care.

And the worstest part... this isn't only going on in the U.S... it's going on in the WORLD.

What a freakin dilemma!

We gotta get off this topic, it's just too sad.

Oh, IF time permits, I'll try to postem anyways but it'll prob be too late for anybody to really checkem out.

edited: I see they scwatched the part of the entry I liked better.. dang. I'm gonna keep the half that is running since they, at least, retained carMOOCH onboard.

Hammy, in this 5th race - see how that no. 2 just stands there as they adjust his equipment? Doesn't faze him in the least when they tighten the girth belt. THAT'S NOT GOOD. Any little thing that just hints that the horse may be asleep on it's feet is a negative. There are soo, soo many things with spotting wieners/losahs.

BTW, the no. 6 AT LEAST looks like it may be awake. :)

Thanks to Hm for his Tiznow horse that he had in the past. Played him again. Jimbo, will watch the rest of the field as the approach the gate. Good info about relaxed horses with equipment changes.

WRONG longshot, Dang!

4-5-7 and the no. 7 was coming but not good enough. No. 5 wound up going off at odds much better than no. 7 too.

So much more of a better chance to SEE what you're betting BEFORE you place the bets.

two LOOKERS in this upcoming 6th wace.. nos. 2 and 4, both look pretty bad on paper and BIG odds.
That may be a good thing. At least they'll prob come out running.

That no. 2 didn't last long and the no. 4 may still be running? You know what both favorites running first and second means.

Wheeled one of them top/bot and played the other across.. Phit.. ---->UH (that's an arrow to the heart)

Played them heavier than usual largely because both showed signs of good early speed and that's a bit of a plus on off tracks and maybe a little precipitation going on. Didn't work THIS TIME, it will someday and could produce a handsome payoff.

Played a bunch but I think I came out ahead.

Caught the whole zacta and also the place (kinda heavy) for place. Woulda been nice if the race was a bit longer that's forsho.

HM, playing the two longest shots of the contenders really helped.
