DETROIT (Robertson) -120 over BALTIMORE (Cabrera)

The Orioles have fallen way off the pace in the AL
East and with a 1-9 record against lefthanders
(-$930 with only 3.3 runs per game), it won't be
easy to recover against a Detroit rotation loaded
with southpaws. We've been impressed all year
by Kenny Rogers and Mike Maroth. But don't lose
sight of Nate Robertson, who has put together a
string of solid performances (+$195, 3.25 ERA
overall) and is nicely poised to get the Tigers off
on the right foot in this series. They are 9-5 (+$460)
on the road vs. righthanders and 13-3 in night
games so far (+$1035). We'll lay the short road
price vs. Cabrera (-$235) and the rest of the fading
Orioles.

Thanks for the great series info Raymond. I was going to play the Tigers myself except that the play conflicted with one of my other theories.

I have been trying to bet on Daniel Cabrera when facing a free swinging team and against him when facing a patient team. To date, this has proven successful.

Cabrera has three quality starts against Anaheim, Seattle and Texas. Their walk-per-plate-appearance rankings (1 being most walks) is 30th, 23rd and 15th respectively. All free swingers.

Cabrera also has three disastrous starts against Bos, NY and Tampa Bay. Their walk-per-plate-appearance rankings are 2, 1 and 7 respectively. All patient.

Detroit is an impatient team. They are 29th in the league with .36 BB/SO. 25th in the league with .066 walks-per-plate-appearance. And 24th in total walks.

In the end, I took a pass because you are so right that everything else favors the Tigers. Looking forward to seeing how this one plays out tonight.

GL to you and thanks for all the great info.
