Davey Martinez is a fucking idiot. He has no clue how to handle the bullpen. I think he is using a magic 8 ball. There is no plausible explanation for bringing Suero into the game in the 8th inning winning 1-0. I do not care if they end up making the playoffs, Martinez is still a bad manager.

Quintana is hot and I think the schedule may catch up to the Nats today. Also big game for the Cubs after yesterday's loss.

Wild Card

Nats Un 7.5 - Playing the total because there is no way I am laying -170 on the Nats as I simply do not trust Davey Martinez to handle the pitching staff. I actually think there is value with the Brewers. The best case scenario for the Nats is that Scherzer goes at least 7 innings (best is obviously 9 but this is the best realistic case), but this has been a problem for him this year, especially since he came off the DL. They will use Strasburg and Corbin if they need to, but like I said, Martinez is clueless on how to manage the pitching staff so I do not trust him at all. The Brewers will start Woodruff and then we will see a slew of relievers. My guess is he hopes to get 3 innings out of Woodruff and then empty the bullpen since they are all rested. I think all of this leads to a low scoring game. If Max can get out of the first inning unscathed he should have a great outing. If he gives up a couple early runs it could be rough sledding for the Nats and I will be looking to a quick in-game Brewers bet if this happens.

I think the Nats are the only team in the NL that can beat the Dodgers (and I know LA will be routing for the Brewers or at least a game where all the Nats starters pitch), but I think this will be a tough game for them. Lots and lots of pressure to win especially at home. I know it is only one game, but it is an important one for this team. The team is loose after an 8 game home winning streak to end the year, but the playoffs are a whole different ball game.

Exactly what I said could not happened, has happened. Scherzer is just as bad as he has been in the second half and Martinez will stick with him too long. I made an in-game bet as soon as I could on the Brewers.

Hit the under but Nats great comeback ended up costing me money as I did bet the Brewers in game, but I am glad they won though.

While I am a Nats fan, I am by no means a homer. In their last series against the Dodgers my bet against them for the series was my largest baseball play ever and I routinely play against then during the year. However, I do believe that the Nats are the only team in the NL that can beat the Dodgers. I like the pitching match ups and the overall momentum they bring into this series.

I also just like this situation. Playing in the wild card game may have been the best scenario for them. I know some think I am crazy, but now they have Corbin starting the first game in LA against Kershaw and I think this is by far the best scenario for the Nats and it would have never happened without the wild card game because there is no way Martinez starts Corbin over Stras or Max. Corbin owns the Dodgers over his last 5 starts with a 0.59 ERA. The Dodgers struggle against strong left handed pitching while the Nats thrive against left handers. Add to this Kershaw's shaky post season record and I think the Nats have a great chance to win game 1 (yes, I considered playing just game 1 in lieu of the series). If they steal game 1, they can then pitch Sanchez in game two and then come home with Strasburg and Scherzer and still have Corbin for game 5. I just think this is a very favorable set up for them. Obviously, all of this depends on their starters not only pitching well but pitching deep into games. I think this is important for both teams starters.

Even though it was only one game, last night's win was a big win for this franchise and for this team given their playoff history. I think they will be lose and play very well in this series. The Dodgers are the better overall team but anyone can win a 5 game series. Obviously game 1 is key, but I like the Nats chances in this series and you are getting better than 2-1 money.

Hopefully it is a great series and if they win a game in LA I will be going to DC next week!!

I played it this morning at the sports book in Harrington, DE as soon as it opened. I wanted to get on it as soon as it came out as I expected it to go down. The sports book lines here always seem to tilt more to the favorites, so I will make plays there on dogs I like. I always post at the line I played. Looks like it is dropping below +200 most places now. Game 1 line is also getting bet down.

Going with

Minnesota TT Ov 1.5 FH -120 - Paxton really struggles in the first inning so I like them to score early. They hit a ton of home runs so I like this low number. TT for the game is also a good play I think and I am using Minnesota ML in a parlay or two.


Not much to say about the Nats. Corbin shit the bed in the first inning last game and that ended that one. Not because he gave up a run, but because he made so many pitches that there was no way he would go more than 5 which means 4 innings of hell. The starters have to go deep for them to win. Must win game tonight and they have their best pitcher going, so lets see if they can shake of the nerves and hit the damn ball!!

I am taking the Dodgers +115 tonight. I know I am going against my series play, but getting the Dodgers at plus money is just too good of a line to pass up. Truth is Scherzer has not been very good since the all start break with a 4.81 ERA. Left handers hit him much better than righties and have a season average of .255 with a slugging of .446. The numbers tell you that he should not even be favored in this game. He will have to be lights out for 8 innings in my opinion for the Nats to win this game as their bullpen is just complete shit. The Nats will also have to hit the ball which has been a problem.

My series bet was based on the Nats momentum, which is now gone, and more importantly, Corbin pitching great for which I could not have been more wrong. They can write about how bad the Nats bullpen is and Martinez being forced to use starters, but the truth is that Corbin is making an average of $23.3 million per year and he has sucked in the postseason. He can not throw strikes and the Dodgers know it so they just waited for him to hang a slider. No excuses.

Max gets the headlines but in reality he has been very average in the second half of the year and I expect the Dodger lefties to get to him early tonight for a couple home runs and I doubt the Nats can score enough to match it.

Gave a little back with the Dodgers bet, but a great win by the Nats last night. Have to say that I really enjoyed that one. Dave Roberts certainly deserves some criticism for the way he handled the pitching staff but the Nats battled, got Buehler out and got the win.

Now I will sit tight with the Nats +470 against the Cardinals. I would bet the Nats to win this series though. The Nats have the bench to counter the right handers of the Cardinals and I think the starters will be very strong again in this series. People forget how good Sanchez has been and I think he will start the first game. Only worry is that they will need the bullpen more in a 7 game series.

Great run by the Nats. If their pitchers go deep they can play with anyone. I can not wait to go to my first World Series game in a long time (have not been since the Orioles won in 1983). Going to be expensive, especially if the Yankees win, but I will be going to at least one game.

Caps finally win after I leave DC and now the Nats going to the WS. Maybe I was the jinx!!

Houston is the better team top to bottom, but that rarely matters. Nats have some great mojo going and I think they can grind this one out. Just like the Dodger series, they need to win one of the games in Houston and I then think they have a great chance as their top 4 starters are better.

One large issue to consider here is the potential weather in DC forecasted this coming weekend. For now, there is rain coming Friday night and more rain all weekend. A rain out or two certainly changes the pitching for the Series and stresses the effectiveness of the managers even more. I know everyone thinks Cole and Verlander are stronger than Scherzer and Strasburg, but I think it is about even in the playoffs. Verlander can be had and the Nats love fastballs. Will be interesting to see if Martinez uses some of his lefties against them versus the lineup that got them here. I highly doubt he changes anything though.

I think it is going to be a great Series, but I also think the Astros are a bit overpriced.

I like the Nats tonight, but I already have it +201 so no need to add at a worse number. BUT, I will add the following:

Nats FH TT Ov 1.5 -130
Nats TT Ov 3.5 -120

I like some more plays on the totals, but I am sticking to this for now. I think the Nats get to Greinke early tonight. Nats have the momentum back and Greinke can not overpower anyone anymore. I expect Max to be Max, and if he has no health issues, the Nats likely only need to use 4 pitchers in this game while Houston may break a record for the number of pitchers used. Will be interesting to see how Cole handles a relief appearance as I think we will see him for sure.

Been one crazy series full of strange records, but we have two Cy Young award winners going head to head and two teams with the best records in baseball since the middle of May. Hoping the trend is your friend holds true and we see another road win by the Nats. At a minimum I am hoping for a great game that the Umps do not fuck up (I do not care what anyone says, that call last night was atrocious).

Fantastic World Series. Nats win and I hit three big Series bets. Can ask for much more.

I was certainly bashing them early on, but I have to admit that their turn around was remarkable. Winning 4 road games in the WS may not ever happen again and the team with the worst bullpen ERA in the league will likely never win it again. Not sure I have ever seen an added bench player, Geraldo Parra, change the attitude of a team like he did. The stupid baby shark song and dancing for home runs added a lot of life to this team. And I have to give Martinez credit for allowing them to have some fun.

Also credit needs to go to many of the role players: Anibal Sanchez, Asdrubal Cabrera, Howie Kendrick and Daniel Hudson. The stars get all the credit, but they got there and won because of the contributions from these players.

Definitely one of the more impressive WS wins I have ever seen. Was the first time in a long time that I watched every game and truly enjoyed it. Think I will go buy one of those WS hats!
