lets kick some azz...

1.) Baltimore/tribe under 8.5...looking at these lineups im wondering where the runs are going to come from...the tribe lost the only hitter that atleast made the other team think a little...Burks is still dangerous at times but has absolutely no protection around him...he sa travis hafner in front of him and shane spencer following him ...the top of the tribe lineup looks like the only area where they may be able to produce a few runs ...with vizquel and garcia...but after them i just dont see anyone to get them around the bases....Baltimore has some power in the middle of the lineup with conine/gibbons/ batista/cordova....but lets take a look at baltimores numbers vs. lefties last year...the team avg. 3.7 runs per game vs. lefties and the under hit at a 17-24 record....the team as a whole had a batting avg. of 247 vs lefties...

conine vs. lefties last year...292avg..6 homers 113 at bats
gibbons...235..3 homers...98 at bats
cordova 274...7..135 at bats
batista...234..3 homers ...158 at bats

conine/gibbons have pretty good numbers....but if no one is one base solos shots shouldnt hurt the total that much

the tribe lineup has seen very little of lopez ....vizquel is 2-3 ..667 avg.

burks was 0-3
and spencer was 0-3

no umpire info on this game has me a little worried but at this time of year the slate is clean...and can only judge on tendencies from years past rather than the current yr..so i''l give this a shot...

be back...cooz

p.s. good luck to everyone this year...

thanks homerh...same to you..

you will not see me do this often...and i strongly recommend you dont do this on a regular basis for those who are just starting out...but i think this game justifies a play here on the runline..

2.) atlanta minus 1.5..plus 110...with vladie out of the lineup i see limited power throughout for the expos....a lot of people are predicting the braves take a step back this year...which they may but not today....Maddux is undefeated on opening day starts ..he is 6-0 lifetime and has a 1.56 era...he has allowed 9 runs in 52 innings on opening day games...in day games last year his era was 2.12....on the mound for the expos is arma jr. who certainly has his spots but in day games last year he was waxed with a 7.34 era....

against atl last year...his last threes starts agianst them..
1.) 4-2 loss
2.) 8-5 loss
3.) 6-5 loss..vs maddux

when you look deeper into maddux game however...we see that maddux actually only gave up 2 earned runs in that game ..it was the bullpen that gave up the majority of runs...maddux has lost set up men in remlinger and hammond and ligtenburg so the concern for the same thing occurs here as well....but i just think atlanta has a very good chance to win this game by 2 runs....

for some reason or another neither one of my books would offer me a runline on the braves game.....and i will not play juice that high....i apologize if anyone was influenced by the post and the braves lose....and dont apologize if the braves win...i tried until the last minute to get a line on that game...through various people...and neither one of my guys is offering runlines at this time...not fair in my opninion...should be able to bet what i want to bet...

one more for the early games...

2.) sanfran minus 135...the giants lost quite a few players from last year...a new secnd baseman/third baseman/ center fielder and right fielder....now they have ray durham at second...grissom in center...alfonzo at third and jose cruz in right....sure they lost some good players...but they have replaced them with some decent talent.....as far as the padres go they have lost trevor hoffman and phil nevin to injury...a big bat and a solid closer....brian lawrence is by far and away thier ace but what happens when he is pulled??.....this team struggled against lefties last year batting 247 as a a team...they were 14-25 against lefties and avg 4 runs per game vs. lefties....but RUeTER last year pitched lights out at SD. ...2 games last year he pitched a total of 13 innings and gave up 1 earned run..outstanding numbers....

excellent writeup's :) .. how's it going bud. I stayed off Atlanta as gotta see how they are gonna do. New guy in Montreal may make them play good in the first game was another reason

have put the tribe under in proilne [ontario lottery] parlay as I was getting 9.5 runs in it. :)

good luck cooz

i think lawrence is going to have a long season....he will keep his team in it or 6 or 7 innings then the bullpen will blow it..

recap..

day 1....1-1 for the day....could have been worse if i got that braves game in...i'll take a split...4-2 in the bottom of the eighth of the balt game...and they tie it up...chit happens...
