COLORADO ?135:

Well, you know what? The law of averages or some fluke thing will get a Mets win sooner or later but you just never know how long a streak will last, so I?ll take my chances here and load up on Colorado in this one and hope the Mets lose their 12th in a row!

First of all, lets take a look at how the two teams fair at home and the road:

Colorado at home is a very impressive 38-23
The Mets on the road are just 28-34

Taking a look at the recent performances by both teams, you already know the Mets have been struggling. They have scored a total of just 3 runs in their last 4 games and are averaging just 1.6 runs per game over their last 10 games

Colorado on the other hand had hot bats in Atlanta last weekend and have continued the hot hitting on their current homestand. Colorado has scored a whopping 49 runs over their last 6 games. (The Mets have scored a total of 9 over their last 6 games)

Let?s take a look at the starters in this game:

Jennings is starting for the Rockies and will try to better his awesome 8-1 Home record. Jennings has really been pitching awesome lately, beating the likes of Greg Maddux and AJ Burnett in his last 4 starts. Over those starts, he has only allowed a total of 4 runs and has not allowed more than 2 in any of them.

Jennings has made 2 career starts vs the Mets and is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA. The only runs he allowed in the 2 games was a 3-run homer by Piazza and that was it!

The possible Mets batters have combined for just 5 total hits vs Jennings in their careers (5 for 31)

Astacio is getting the start for the Mets today and I believe it?s his 1st start in Coors since pitching with them the past several years. I?ll tell you why I don?t feel he fairs well today vs the Rockies:

Astacio as we all know has been very impressive all season except for his last 2 starts. In his 1st 22 starts this season, he did not allow more than 4 runs in ANY game. Now the last 2 starts he?s given up 6 runs and 8 runs in back to back starts. Something just ain?t right here. I for one am starting to believe he?s got a bit of a tired arm but nonetheless he is way off from his very good form that he?s had almost all season.

The above is a HUGE KEY in this game. Astacio is in the worst form of the season and now has to go to Coors field and face the hottest offensive team currently in baseball! Of course we all know that Astacio pitched for several years at Coors as a member of the Rockies, but because of this I dug up his Coors field numbers when he was a Rockie and his ERA at HOME was NOT impressive at all:

Astacio at Home (Coors Field) in 1998?????.7.39 ERA
Astacio at Home (Coors Field) in 1999?????.7.16 ERA
Astacio at Home (Coors Field) in 2000?????.6.54 ERA
Astacio at Home (Majority at Coors Field) in 2001?..6.48 ERA

Well he?ll be running into a Colorado team that hits .324 vs righties at home and also a Colorado team that averages 6.6 Runs per game at home vs righties.

One more thing with Astacio and all the Met?s pitchers at the current time?you almost gotta feel they might not have the confidence in pitching right now with them knowing how bad their offense is?.. starters sometimes have a tendency to press a bit and try to be too fine when situations like this arise.

That?s about it. No Ump info yet and a negative could maybe be the bullpens, but I really don?t think the pens will decide this one. I?ll take my chances here and think the Met?s lose their twelth in a row ;)

Good luck :thumb:

Simply put, I just don't play Kerry Wood pitched games....one of the very few personal rules I have for myself in baseball

I can't see how anyone would even consider playing the Mets right now...personally I think the line's a gift. We'll see.

Good luck today Mack and glad we agree on Colorado :)

i noticed this game last night...and the only thing holding back a play was that astacio is not a newcomer to the COORS field effect....so i wanted to look at his production at home when he pitched for them...you did the work for me...the only downfall is the no ump info...and the line may be low b/c of Astacios season as whole/public perception/and the odds of the mets losing twelve straight...i dont know:shrug: ...but with ya on the rockies...GOOD LUck..COOZ
