Playing just one game today:
SEATTLE -130 (1 UNIT)
Not sure why the line is opening so low, maybe because they're not expected to sweep the Rangers? I don't know, but I am gonna take advantage of it.
Seattle has won all 7 games it's played on the road this year and they've got Baldwin on the mound today.
Baldwin so far this year has been superb, going 2-0 with an ERA of just 1.29 Look for him to continue it today.
The big angle in this game has to do with Texas pitcher Dave Burba. Burba may not only get rocked, but may be asked to go a few more innings than normal if he gets in trouble....The Texas Bullpen has been overworked bigtime.
Don't let Burba's 5-1 career mark vs Seattle sway you in this game. Those wins came when he pitched for Cleveland who always supplied him with an outrageous amount of run support. Actually if you look at his career #'s vs Seattle, he has been far from good. In 8 starts, he's got an ERA of 5.70 and has given up 60 hits in just 47.1 Innings.
Last year, Burba faced Seattle once and got rocked for 7 earned runs in just 2 innings.
Big reason I think Burba will not fair well today.....check these numbers Last year:
In 2001 Lefty hitters batted .359 off him in 301 AB
Well, check out the possible lefty batters who will be in the lineup today:
Ichiro Suzuki (Left)
Carlos Guillen (Switch)
Ruben Sierra (Switch)
John Olerud (Left)
Ben Davis (Switch)
Desi Reliford (Switch)
Mark McLemore (Switch)
Burba so far in 2002 has also had some control problems. He's walked 9 in the 10.2 Innings pitched this year. Home Plate Ump was pretty much average last year, but the past 3 years, he would be catagorized as having a little tighter than average strikezone. If anything, advantage would go to Baldwin.
Good luck in all your plays today.
