Spock,
I am looking at this game also, and have uncovered that CWS are a TERRIBLE road team at 19-32. They are 2-7 in their last 9 games, only batting .256 on the road this season.
Baltimore has played decent since the break, and have won four straight at home, against Seattle and now the ChiSox.

I like the fact that Garland only went 3 innings last night, and if the Birds can jump on Glover early, the can get into that soft bullpen. Sox bullpen has logged 316 innings so far this year!! That is a lot!! With the heat and humidity in B'more, an already tired pen could be sapped of any energy early.

Baltimore hitting .277 in last 10 against righties, so they are swinging a good bat right now. Pale hose have only put up 30 runs in last 9 games, for an avg. of just a shade over 3 a game. Baltimore has put up 33 rums in their last 6 games, against the likes of Pineiro, Lidle, Carpenter, etc. Halladay was the only arm to hold them to under 4 runs in the last 6 games.

Gotta believe that Joe West will favor a more control type pitcher like Ponson, than a less accurate Glover. In Glover's last start he only lasted 5 innings against the lowly hitting Tribe, (sorry NDN), and that's not impressive!! Only gave up 2 runs, but had 95 pitches. The start before that, he lasted just 14 pitches against Cleveland, giving up 0 runs. Baltimore has given up 43 runs in Ponson's last 6 starts.

However, Baltimore has won 8 of the last 10 that Ponson has started. He has given up only 12 earned runs in his last 5 starts. Baltimore has won 4 of last 5 that Ponson has started, with victories against NYY, ARIZ, SEA, and TEX. Baltimore only lost to Phil, in a game that Ponson only went 2 innings, with no earned runs. He only threw 83 pitches last time out, so should be ready to go.

Just my $.02, sorry to jump in your thred NDNFAN. GLTA:) :)

Actually I already played Baltimore as I think they are defi the better team here. If you go to my thread yesterday there is a write up which mentions some of the things u stated.

Just wanted to know how much of importance does pete pay to this kind of stat.

And I dont think Pete minds someone jumpin into his thread. :D
the more info the better to make a better call.

Cheers !!!

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Ponson is 1-2 vs CWS with 4.43 era last 3 seasons at Balt. And those in previous seasons when he wasn't pitching as good as he has this.

He has his visiting countrymen to show off to tonight also.

Balt is 12-2 at night this season when Ponson starts.

Like Tampa Bay-----new pitcher has good stuff--good control---can throw strikes on both sides of the plate.

He is just hangin the ball in middle of the plate. Watchin the game right now and he looks very nervous. Wobbled the ball when he went to field it. Got the out but does not look very comfortable.

mebbe he settles in after 2-3 inning

monkey....1st of all noticed the DRays were down 4-0 at the time of your post.....Don't take it the wrong way, just disgusted the way it is.

But anytime you have a big dog, I for one don't need near as many angles......you can't find near as much going for any dogs, but I thought the DRAys were way undervalued here.

Parris has not much success vs Tampa Bay and I've found out that any time a pitcher has NOT had success vs a team and pitches a good outing vs them which he did back in June, there's a very good chance they pound him pretty good next time out.

Parris also really struggles vs left-handed bats:

Giving up a .310 average to lefties over his career, plus even though this season, he's pitching pretty good, he's still giving up a .299 average to lefties this year.

I figured Tampa would have plenty of lefty bats in the lineup today and I just checked and they have 5 in there.

Also the righties Tampa has had shown they can hit him.

Bullpen favors Tampa bigtime of late...over 3 runs lower over the last 10 games than Toronto

Like innovation stated above, this Delos Santos can pitch, looks like nerves got to him early, but the game isn't over yet.

Anyways that was the CORE of my decision. I seen value in it. We'll see what happens.

Gonna be out the rest of the day....Will get some write-ups posted for tomorrow's games.

Good luck to you Monkey and to all the rest of the games tonight!

Hi Pete

how much do streaks count. Toronto is a very streaky team and are first in the majors in terms of batting % after the all star break.

I think lots of money to be made on Toronto as long as their streak continues.

Hard luck

Mayur....streaks are pretty much a "feel" type thing for me.....I don't like playing against them. Of course this was one of the negatives for me in the Tampa-Toronto game. I had the Over along with Tampa originally because of Toronto's hot hitting of late, but scratched it due to the Unknown performance of the Tampa pitcher and Toronto never seeing him before. Looks like I should have kept the Over, but sometimes that's how it goes.

Still burning, with Boston bringing in Hermanson in after going up by 2 runs. YOU DON'T bring in a guy fresh off the DL to make his first appearance vs the Yankees in that situation in a KEY SERIES like this....just my opinion.

GL to you and I'm outta here for now!
