Philly -155:

Vincente Padilla has pitched very well this year in his new starting role. In his 4 starts this year, Padilla has only given up 19 hits in 27 innings.

As a team, the Padres are struggling to hit righties. They are only hitting .244 overall vs righties and on the road, they are only hitting for a .230 clip vs them.

Padres vs righties are averaging just over 2 runs per game this year, and I doubt if that average goes up in this game.

Home Plate Ump in this game is Bill Hohn. Hohn has Umped 2 games this year behind the plate and so far has had a very large strikezone. Hohn has called an average of 16 strikeouts and just 5 walks in those 2 games. This will set up perfectly for Padilla today as he is more of a strikeout pitcher, although he does have decent control as well.

Bobby Jones, who's pitching for the Padres today, will not have any beneficial value from Home Plate Ump Hohn. Jones is not an overpowering pitcher. He's the type of pitcher that likes to put the ball in play and let his defense make the outs.

Jones, who is also a righty, has always given up more hits than innings pitched and gotta a feeling the Phillies will be tagging him hard today. The Phils hit right handers very well...it's the southpaws that give the Phillies fits. Philadelphia is averaging 4.1 runs per game vs righties....almost double that of what San Diego is averaging.

Jones has not faired well vs the Phillies in the past. Last year he started one game vs them and got rocked for 7 runs and 11 hits in just 5.2 innings.

Dug out the career averages of these Philly Players vs Bobby Jones. You won't believe these numbers!!

Rollins .375
Glanville .300
Abreu .444
Rolen .333
Lieberthal .500
Lee .300
Burrel .200
Anderson .333

Don't think you wanna bet against the Phillies today with those kind of career numbers vs Jones.

Also, As I said earlier, Home Plate Ump Hohn will benefit Padilla alot more than Jones today at least as far as their pitching styles go, I did dig up a little more info. on Hohn. Don't know if it will help or not in this game, but Home Plate Ump Hohn does reside in Blue Bell, PA. This is just 17 miles from Philly. Can only help Philly on this little angle.

Good Luck.

Arizona +155:

Alot of value in Arizona today.

Arizona has owned Maddux in the past. Maddux has lost 4 straight to the D'Backs.

Maddux made 2 starts vs the D'Backs last year and got lit up for 13 runs on 21 hits in just 11.2 innings.

Also, Home Plate Ump Andy Fletcher, is one of those guys that always seem to be helping the visitors. Last year when he was behind the plate, the road team averaged almost 2 full runs higher than the home team. This year Fletcher is continuing the trend. The road team won 3 of the 4 games this year that Fletcher Umped and are averaging 2.5 runs more than the home team.

Arizona hits righties well, averaging 4.4 runs per game this year. This should continue vs Maddux. Check out the career averages of the D'Back players vs Maddux:

Womack .190
Spivey 1.000
Gonzalez .381
Grace .292
Bautista .333
Finley .333
Miller .353
Counsell .300

Except for Womack, the rest of the lineup really has no problems with him.

Although Maddux says his back is fine, there is always the possibility of that bothering him as well.

Atlanta does not hit righties very well. They are only batting .226 as a team vs right handers and are only averaging 2.7 runs per game vs them this year.

Look for Rick Helling to have a big advantage in this game. He's never made a start vs the Braves which should benefit the pitcher and throw in the fact that Atlanta is struggling vs Right handed pitching this year, expect Helling to have a good outing today.

Lots of value in this one.

Good luck.
