ndfan,

Hope all is well!

The problem I have with Atlanta as a road favorite in this spot is that Armas has recorded Quality Starts against them each of the last 4 times he has faced them at Montreal, while the Expos are one of Millwood's least favorite teams to face, as he has a 5.23 ERA in his last 5 starts against them. In his only home start against the Braves this year, Armas only allowed 1 earned run and 5 hits in 7 innings, yet lost 2-0. However, he was opposed by Glavine that day, so anything close to that effort SHOULD be good enough to get a W today. Also, let's now forget that despite playing before the smallest crowds in the league, the Expos are still a Major League best 27-12 at home. I know you put little emphasis on records, but it is hard for me to overlook a 69.2% winning percentage on a home UNDERDOG.

Good luck on this and all your plays.

Oh, I forgot to mention that we agree on the Twins, but I am passing on the Giants. San Fran probably should win, but Jennings has had some very solid performances this year, so I will stay away at that price.

Good luck.

THE ROCKIES HAVE BEEN GIVING THE GIANTS A TOUGH TIME THIS YEAR 6-3 +$350 BUT THEY'VE BEEN JUST AWFUL ON THE ROAD IN GENERAL ONLY 14-27 -$830 AND AGAINST LEFTIES IN PARTICULAR 9-17 -$855. SF IS TOUGHEST AT NIGHT HERE AT PAC BELL VS RIGHTIES 24-15 +$655. COLORADO IS ONLY 17-22 WITH IN THE DIVISION.

Good luck ndn,
Are you going to do a write up on the Atl. game? I think this looks to be a pretty close match-up but I've been known to miss something before. I know Atlanta is a hot team and the they want to get off on the right foot to start the second half but I can't make myself pull the trigger. I like the fact that Smoltz is available if needed to close and they will use him if necessary. I know they want this and they have been good on the road but Mont. has been equally good at home. PLUS, BEWARE Beantownjim is on Atlanta!!!!!!!! Ha, Ha
GL & PEACE, HAIL:D

Thanks everyone. Not trying to ignore anyone in debating a game or anything....just been busy at work lately. I'll still try to get my anaylysis up on games as much as possible, it's just tough sometimes during the week.

Not gonna get into the Atlanta game too much because number 1, the game's over. Number 2, it's easy for me to give reasons after a game has won. But I do wanna point out a couple things that might help people in the future: If a pitcher has had a bad history vs a team, like Millwood has had vs the Expos which Eugene Michaels has pointed out....You gotta see if they're excuses. Those losses Millwood piled up against the Expos all came when he was not 100%(0-4 in 2001 and 2000) This is the 1st season out of the past few that Millwood has been pitching pain free, so I think his performance vs the Expos on May 29th this season was a bigger indicator of how he would perform. Also, you have to look at the fact, that Armas just faced Atlanta 8 days ago which gave the Atlanta hitters a big advantage as they know his stuff. Anytime a team has faced a pitcher within the last 10 days...take a good look at that fact, cause they stand a lot better chance of getting to him early rather than having to see his stuff, and more than likely struggling in the early innings and not getting good at bats till the 2nd time around in the order.

Just my take on some key situations in that game.

Good luck to all in the games tonight!

YOU DA MAN!

YOU DA MAN!

ndfan,

I've been out all day and actually just saw the Atlanta score. 4 runs in the first inning belies the fact that the Braves were familiar with Armas' stuff after facing him recently. Once again, you were right and I was wrong.

This is becoming an anoying habit!

;)

Again, please understand that I don't necessarily disagree with your Giants play, just that I wouldn't play them at that fat price.

Continued good luck to you.
