8.5 seems a little low for a total considering what these two pitchers bring to the table. brian lawrence has been getting pretty much lit up lately as he is 0-2 in his last 3 starts with a era of 5.29 and 0-3 in his last 3 road starts with an era of 6.61. tomo ohka has not faired no better lately. after a good start he seems to have lost his touch; over his last few starts he has given up 10 runs on 19 hits over his last 10 innings pitched. padres have gone over the total in 4 of lawrences last 5 starts and are 7-3 over their last 10. combine all this with the fact that the home plate ump (schrieber) has been favoring the over in his last 5 (4-1) with an average of 9 walks per game and 13.4 runs, then one would think the over would be a good play.
