as most people are saying, the packers are lucky they aren't 0-4 with three close ones vs. below average to average teams in carolina, detroit, and atlanta...

here are some notes that i have come across while doing some research on this game:

NOTES:

- the pack have given up an average of 28.5 pts. per game in their first four games of this season vs. teams, as mentioned above that are not supposed to be above average offensive teams...

- they have been averaging 125 yds. rushing per game, but have not faced a LB like Urlacher...on the other side of the ball, they have given up an average of 140yds. rushing per game...

- i'm thinking the packers are going to have to depend on their air show (do the have one?) and not their ground game, which could put a lean on the over or could result on more mistakes and miscues...

- 'da bears offense isn't one of their strengths or powers, but they could put the hurtin' in the pack by throwing the a-train at the packers front seven or hittin' their quick WRs in Booker, Robinson, Terrell, or White.....but giving up an average of almost 29 pts per game will not win you many games, despite their 3-1 record right now...

- the bears defense must come up with big plays and turnovers to take pressure off their average offense...the pack has fumbled 11 times this season, while the bears have fumbled 5 times...

- the matchup between the two last season resulted in GB winning both games SU and ATS (20-12 and 17-7)...

more thoughts please, will add more later myself...

On the course!
This game stacks up as a pretty even matchup, IMO.

The biggest swing goes to Favre, and he has proven to be enough all season. (they would be 0-4 without him)

Packer and Bears

Packer and Bears

Both of these teams could easily be 0-4. The Bears two victories were on a last minute touchdown after a turnover against Minnesota and Feeney missed a last second field goal or Atlanta would have won. The Pack could definitely be 0-4 as Detroit had a receiver let a catchable ball go off his hands in the end zone. Atlanta had a few bad calls go against them and a couple of dropped touchdown passes. Against Carolina the kicker missed a 22 yard field goal.
These teams have quite a few injuries. The Packers are missing OT Mike Tascher in his place Earl Dotson and he has looked terrible. Terry Glenn will try to play again tonight. He is good for 1 or 2 catches then he gets injured. Parcells had him pegged from the start when he called him she. The other receiver Donald Driver is mediocre at best with plenty of drops. Javon Walker is questionable he has looked good when he has been able to play. Second year man Ferguson has lots of talent but still can't figure out the plays. Tight ends Franks and Martin will both play tonight. Fullback William Henderson who missed last game will return in limited action. Ahman Green is healthy and will play. Guard Marco Rivera will play tonight so Flanagan will move back to guard. The Packer offensive line has been real beat up.
On the Defensive side the packers are without their best defensive linemen Vonnie Holliday for another 8 weeks. Mike Mckenzie the corner has a groin injury but will play. Safety Antwoine Edwards is out. Kabeer Gbala Biamila who was out last week will play this week. He is the best pass rusher for the pack. The Packer linebackers may be the worst in the league as Diggs is average but Nate Wayne has not recovered from his knee injury and has not made any big plays. Nickerson face has been put on milk cartons in Wisconsin because no one has seen him make a play all year. Three out of the 4 defensive backs have played good all year unfortunately they are getting killed at the safety position. First Edwards and now Bowens.

For the Bears they miss Blakenmeyer as the offensive line has not played as well for Chicago. Thomas is averaging only three yards a carry. Another problem for the Bears is they are not stretching the defenses at all teams are just stacking the line against them. Besides Marty Booker no reciever is helping them out in the passing game as Dez White drops too many balls and Marcus Robinson's injuries have left him as a shell of a player he was. Jim Miller is adaquate but has no mobility what so ever. The tight ends are non existent in the passing game. The Bears defense isn't the same as last year with losing Daniels and Washington in the line and Bryan Robinson playing with injuries to his wrists. The Bears lost a linebacker last week and now journeyman Mike Caldwell will replace him. Rosevelt Coleman is the best pass rusher has he already has 6 sacks they take out Mckenzie and have him rush on obvious passing downs. The Bears front four have not had a sack all year! Brian Urlacher is the second best linebacker in the league minus that guy who plays for the ravens. With the loss of Mcquarters the secondary is below average except for Pro Bowler Mike Brown ( Does he just seem to score a touchdown each week).

The special teams for both of these teams stink as the bears return teams have been awful. Gordon for Green Bay is still waiting for someone to throw him a block this year on the punt return team. Both Kickers are accurate under 50 yards.

The bears are positive in the takeaway department as they have 10 takeaways in 4 games.

In my opinion both of these teams are really non playoff teams but they play in the weakest division in the NFC.

The Packers would be the Cinncinatti Bengals except for one player. MVP Brett Favre. If not for him the Bears would be favored by 10 but Brett is unbelievable against the Bears. At Chicago he is 9-1. All told against Chicago he is 16-4.

As for tonights game I am taking Green Bay and the over I think the Pack will score at least 24 against the bears defense. I think this is a very good hedge you might not win both but I doubt that you will lose them both. Good luck to all.
