Miller Returning to MNF --

AP reports comedian Dennis Miller is back for a second season as analyst on ABC's "Monday Night Football," a year after stumping viewers with his obscure pop culture references. Miller sprinkled references to literary works and old TV shows into his comments on game action, annoying some viewers and sending others scurrying to look up what he meant. Miller said the initial fan reaction was mixed before improving as the season went on. "They were very nice to me and they were kind of honest, too," he said. "At the beginning, they'd go, `I don't quite know what to make of you yet, but you seem to be making progress.' When they say something like that, the compliment later in the year means something to you. Toward the end of the year, it seemed people were relatively happy."

On the course!
He was an obnoxious punk to start the season, but I think they told him where the bear shits, and by mid-season, he was tolerable.

There are a thousand better choices, though.

I happen to like Dennis Miller,

Sure he is not a very good comedian with his onslaught of political material he puts on his show. But I think the guy has a great sense of humor and some of that is seen through MNF. I don't care for his pre game ramblings that much either. However, it is apparent in his commentary that this guy knows a little something about the game. And I think its real funny when he starts cracking on Fouts and Michaels, in a friendly manner they all seem to crack on each other a bit. Yes, ratings were down and there are others who could probably fill his shoes better but I think the fans will start to accept him and identify with him. I do like him much better than Boomer who was a great QB, but in my opinion had a zip-o personality....

Okay I will admit that I am a Dennis Miller fan so I welcome him back to the booth....

but Jmize lets be honest Boomer absolutely sucked. I could not stand that guy ruining MNF for me every week. Now I havent been around here for very long so im curious what you all think of Boomer but to me he never had anything of substance to add to the broadcast. The absolute worst!

"...it is apparent in his commentary that this guy knows something about the game" ???? rofl

He is spoon-fed reports. Stats, facts, etc.

I would think if he writes up a pre-game opinion, it is reviewed by a "higher up, edited and passed for approval before he opens his mouth.

This joker hardly knows a football from a beach ball.

The guy is a genius in real life, or damm close to it. I personally feel that this guy will get better and better. Too many times last season you could tell his takes were scripted. Nuthing from the "hip" so to say. Game 1 I wrote him off to the wolves. He did show signs of improvement as the year progressed. He must still improve quite a bit for him to stay around after this year, but with this guy, I think he'll rise to the occassion. Just my 2cents for what it's worth.

Miller is too mouthy for his own good.

My prediction...

He makes a cutting edge sarcastic remark to "Ole Danny Boy", and Fouts "straightens him out" on nationwide television.
