Happ is Hot and Smyly is not??:shrug:
smyly has made a huge leap -so far anyways- this year.
in couple games ive seen him pitch, both on and against, has been nothing short of solid, as well as somewhat unlucky (run support)
right now his record stands at 1-4, but by my judgement, should be -at worst- .500
but sometimes you dont get run support, or just plain unlucky, i get it
this yr, been L, L, ND (when he went 8, and 0 ER), W, L, ND, L
2 no decisions his team has won. he's pitched, near upper tier level this year and only 1 W to show for it
happ
he is hot, yes. 5-0 this yr
has not been saddled with a L going all the way back to last year
all his starts with TOR this year has been ND, W, W, W, ND, W, W (and 3 prev starts last yr, with PIT, W, ND, W) --so clearly he's pitched well enough to keep his team in it.
based off stats alone -he too- has pitched masterfully, only having allowed no more than 3 ER in any of these outings. hes gotten win in all 3 games played at home, allowing 1, 3, and 1 ER (6 inn, 7 inn, 7 inn of work)
for me, those are stats/trends that are hard to keep going
--that said, i believe i read some pretty sharp advice <below> about ever betting against a streak ((which essentially is what i'm kind of doing)) in banking that the law of avgs should catch up for both pitchers - and their respective records.
The lesson I learned from that situation is to ALWAYS bet "with" the streak. You can only lose once betting with it, yet an indeterminable number going against it.
only things that give me pause
TOR: josh donaldson, who is usually a tough out, in midst of 0-14 (mini) slump L3 games, which statistically he should 'awaken' from -soon-
TB: logan forsythe, who seems to have found home in TB, and solid hitter, has been sidelined with hairline fracture in arm (to DL)</below>
