Boy, are these lines tight today. On a day like today you have to find an angle and after a couple of hours of searching I believe I have come up with one. Mashburn. I've watched him since his Ky days and 37 points like in the last game with the 76ers is a fluke and that's what it took for them to win. In addition, Phil will show him a little more attention. I look for him to get no more than his ave (22) and if you figure Davis was 4 points over his average, somebody else has to make up 20 points above their ave. Give 2 of the other three starters their normal game and this don't look good. Now let's look at the total. On the surface the line looks dead on at 183'. My scores are 180, 185, and 183. Even this looks mis-leading to me. First of all, Brown is a master at controling tempo and he has already tried running with NO and lost. Since that loss his d is only giving up 84 per game which indicated to me that they are putting a little more emphasis on the d. Paul Silas is also a defensive minded coach and if he gets behind he will turn up the d, especially on the road. You can look at his loses and tell that they try to come back with d. In addition to this, I do not play a dog on the road getting less than 5 points unless I think they can win SU.

Phil - 4
u 183'

In the Phoe game the total looks about right but the side looks too high even if Ray Allen don't play. Think they are looking for Mil money so be careful.

Good luck everyone

agree with your analysis of Mashburn. The 84 points yielded by Philly cannot be attributed to defence but mainly due to lack of offence in my opinion.

Philly has played 3 games after losing to NO.

First game against Memphis .. Grizzlies scored
24 22 17 25 in the four quarters for 88 points.

The next two games were against Toronto.
Toronto has lot of injury troubles and the head coach Wilkens however good a player or coach he was is a joke. In the last game Toronto was within 3 and Lenny benched his 3 best players.

Anyways in the first game against Toronto .. Toronto scored
29 13 20 and 18 points in the game for 80 points.

In second game Toronto scored
17 26 20 and 21 points in the game for 84 points.

So Philly defence giving up 84 points but with Toronto being involved in two of the three games this can be very misleading in my opinion. Toronto outrebounded Philly but could not put in easy putbacks and dunks and I think total would have reached 90.
(Of course I lost that one by 2 or 3  ) .. I think NO will have good time on the boards.

Just my opinion but I think total goes Over. Agree with Philly winning the game.

Good luck and Cheers !!!

gsp......you make some great points.......

gsp......you make some great points.......

that made me do more looking.

I can see where your coming from on Mash and Davis point totals last Tuesday. I would point out that in the last game in NO.......

-Mash logged 5 more minutes on the floor and Davis was right at his average for the season.

-Therefore, Mash had 5 more minutes than normal to stroke in 15 above his point average for the season.

-Davis....well he was 4 points better than his average with the same number of floor minutes.

-Wesley was the one who struggled last Tues. playing 3 more minutes over his average but 9 points under his seasonal scoring average.

-Also, it would make sense to me....if Brown wants to slow it down because he lost....then Silas will want to run because he won.

-Bottomline both these team are averaging 96.1 ppg.

HOWEVER.....put one foot in a bucket of ice water and the other in a bucket of boiling water....and on the average your comfortable! ;)

Two thing I agree 100% on are:

1) These lines today are squeeky tight tonight!

2) I would definitely "lean" towards Philly tonight....although I won't be on it unless it sets up as a 2H play.

Not trying to talk you outa anything...just adding a little food for thought. Good Luck on 'em! ez

On the course!
I was looking at Philly tonight, but the number seems too tight for me. I think this might be one of those 'win and not cover' games.

One thing in favor of the under tonight.........

One thing in favor of the under tonight.........

might be Davis' "back spasms". He set the whole 3rd period out in Clev on Saturday. (And that was with only a Hornet 3 pt lead at HT!)

If Davis has a repeat of that tonight....I'll be wish'n I'd have played the under. ez
