--Samardzija is totally due to pick up his first W--team 1-9 in his 10 starts,
scoring 20 total runs--as he has pitched great including a 1.40 era and 1.09 whip
in 4 road starts; Petit is really not servicable as a starter and his only solid
start--of only 3--was at home to the smoldering cold padresticks; not that the cubs
are smokin' the ball but Petit has allowed 4 HR in 34 innings while Samardzija has
allowed 2 in 68 innings and early word is a very strong wind blowing out to
right-center; both clubs fairly cold at the plate and neither club has seen much
of opposing starter
--BTW, I find this interesting:
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Blue Jays are among the teams scouting Jeff Samardzija.
Cafardo says that Samardzija "is being watched more than any pitcher by major league scouts." The
Blue Jays had trade talks with the Cubs involving Samardzija over the winter and, according to Cafardo, the
club is "more convinced than ever they can win the AL East if they obtain a top starter." They are not,
however, willing to include Drew Hutchison in a deal, Cafardo adds. The Cubs are almost surely going to deal
Samardzija before the deadline, as his price has never been higher and the two sides haven't been on the same
page in extension talks.
(dang cut and paste and waste your time)
...I think, before the season, the cubs wanting Hutchison was a potential tragedy.
At this point in time it has become farce.
(sorry Karl or Groucho Marx)

--Ross brings the goods and my only concern is that he have a decent ump as he can be
wild at times...he has solid numbers vs in 4 incl home vs on May 4th; McCarthy has great
numbers vs in 4 incl.@SD May 3rd, and has been very good in 4 of past 5, but when he
is bad it is really bad and he is more susceptible to the HR and the padres hit 9 in
their past 6 prior to Sunday (6 on the 6-game homestand); important bat Carlos
Quentin is slated to be starting for the first time in a week

--prior to the 0 hits Phils got yesterday, they has sported a 7-day OPS of .819 while
scoring 6.5 runs per game; rox 7-day was .780 scoring 4.3 per game though they seem
quite cold at the plate; strong wind blowing out to right, barring chaos; Chacin has
an unimpressive 1.46 whip through 4 (club 0-4, and only--ouch--6 runs per game--both
teams--scored in those, all being unders); Kendrick is an anti-stud with poor numbers
vs and finally didn't surrended an HR in last (after 7 straight games doing so) despite
allowing 6 earnies in 5.2 innings

--sorta like the over in Oakland and strong wind blowing out to right-center, but
Milone has somehow pitched 3 good games in a row--vs wash, cws, @TB--though his
opponents were all offensively cold and I'm not buying it (he does have great numbers
in 3 at home, but 2 of those were aforementioned); Smyly is still a work in progress
but he has decent stuff and has been great in 3 road start (KC,BALT,CLEV); more
important to me is the 7-day det OPS of .851, scoring 5.5 per game with 12 HR in
those 7 vs Oak's around .600 OPS, and a .172 ba in their last 6 while totalling 13 runs with
only 5 HR in their past 7; also, det 10-2 vs lefties this year, including 4-0 on the road;
I'm aware of Cabrera leaving Sunday's game with a right hamstring cramp but he is
expected to play Monday and/or those around will (hopefully) pick up the slack

close, but these aren't why I'm so hard done by:
col too undoggy-style
reds +104
Jays way too pricey and Bedard hot
bost@Atl ov7 -125
Stl too pricey

That's enough totally biased data-mining for one day.
