Philadelphia (Person) @ San Francisco (Schmidt)

Well I am going to be backing the home town Giants here I have said it over and over that I don't like Larry Bowa as a Manager and I will say it again he makes some of the stupidest calls I have ever seen. Here are a few more reasons I like the Giants.

San Francisco sends Jason Schmidt to the mound who had a few problems his first start of the year but I look for him to get on track here. He has pitched well against the Phillies while with the Pirates but never received any run support, he should have no trouble in that area here. In two outings at home against the Phils while with Pittsburgh he pitched 15 innings giving up only 1 earned run. And I really think he gets back on the winning side tonight against a Philadelphia team that is just not playing like a team.

Philadelphia counters with Robert Person who has been very shaky after a very good first game to start the year. He has started 5 games this year and carries an ERA of 5.23 and has just been thumped by the Giants in 3 starts against them the Phillies are 0-3 and he has an ERA of 9.48 and a WHIP of 1.864. In his last start in San Francisco last year he only lasted 3.2 innings giving up 6 earned runs. He is in a slump and I will bet against him as long as he is.

Well let's talk bullpens, there is no comparison in my opinion Philadelphia's has just been horrible they have blown so many games this year they should all wear bags over their heads, with an ERA of 6.55 on the road and a WHIP of 1.758. While the Giants pen has been rock solid at home with an ERA of 2.14 and WHIP of 1.048.

Bottom line to this game is the Giants are the better hitting team and would you want your money riding on the Philadelphia bullpen even if Person pitches well (which I just can't see) he has to turn it over to that bullpen that was worked pretty hard in Colorado. The Giants are 8-1 at home against the Phillies over the last 3 seasons and don't see that record doing anything but getting better here!
