playing this one now. no doubt its probably a square play, but i dont think this line has been adjusted enough to accurately reflect the current turmoil within the csu program:
=======================================
detroit (-5) over cleveland state (3:00pm eastern)
=======================================
posted a lot of this in another post (horizon notes), so basically gonna offer some annotation here. i like the fact that csu found a way to miraculously cover vs illinois-chicago on saturday. all that does is disguise their problems. with coles and waters recently being ruled academically ineligible, that leaves csu with just 10 guys to dress for games (just 8 scholarship players). uic basically toyed with cleveland state on saturday. flames led by almost 30 points in the 1st half. uic coach collins actually removed his starters for an extended portion of the 1st half. csu coach garland went with a 6-man rotation. robinson, westley, and chavis all played 35+ minutes. i just dont see them being anywhere near deep enough to handle a physical, aggressive detroit team. if csu had badiane (already out for the season), coles and waters available, this would be a different game. but with csu dressing just 8 scholarship players and having played on the road 48 hrs ago- detroit is about the worst kind of opponent csu can face. titans coming off an overtime loss to butler. that isnt ideal, but i dont think csu is going to be able to have any say on how this game turns out. even the good csu teams of a few years ago always seemed to struggle with detroit. titans have won 7 straight in this series, and 2 of the L3 in cleveland have been blowouts. even though ive got no "loyalties" to csu, i still hate to see em struggle like this because jermaine robinson can really play and head coach garland is trying to turn this program around. but its gonna take time. robinson deserves a better senior year, but simply put- this team is a mess right now. should be a slightly larger crowd than normal at the convocation center because of the afternoon holiday scheduling, but csu is just not gonna have the bodies to withstand the detroit pressure. absolutely hate laying conference road chalk and it would be just like csu to screw me, but i think they lose by 10-12. like i said, probably a square play but i dont think the linesmaker understands just how much these recent suspensions are going to hurt an already thin csu bench.
