notre dame (+10) over connecticut

irish have been pathetic lately, especially in the 2nd half of the pittsburgh game. this game has the potential to send their season in two directions depending on the outcome. a blowout loss could send nd into a downward spiral for the rest of the season. but an upset could get the ship righted.

significant edge in free throw shooting that i cant overlook:
notre dame 73%
connecticut 59%

obviously huskies rolling, so theyve found myriad ways to overcome their FT shooting deficiencies. but with a line of double digits, these FT numbers could mean the difference between a 12 point win or an 8 point win.

sometimes, a quick turnaround (saturday to monday) is just what a struggling team needs- especially when the team coming to town is a conference heavyweight.

got a feeling the irish show up tonight

also worth noting: pittsburgh on deck for the huskies.

dammit dude.....i was hoping you wouldnt post today, cuz I knew you would be on them, LOL.

I am having trouble ignoring the 11 points.......this team has talent, no doubt about it, but I think that they are not physical enough. Chris Quinn......I have played with him before, and I know for a fact that he can shoot lights out but is not aggressive enough to defend someone for 40 mins. Chris Thomas is as talented a point guard as many in the country, but I think he is soft too....

Inside there isnt much there. But dammit 11 points with a team that has their season in the balance......I dont know man. I was hoping that no one that I respected as a capper would bring them to my attention again.....:mad:

And you do have a point....if Notre Dame can stay in this game to start....they will be in it to finish because UCONN cannot make free throws. UCONN has had trouble putting teams away with large spreads and this one may be asking too much.....but this ND squad is just confusing.

gman..we agree! i like notre dame too...hope they play well enough to cover, and well enough for them to have chance at stealing this game

thanks guys. cant say im shocked by the upset. didnt expect it, but irish certainly were capable of it. maybe this game will indeed provide a spark for the rest of their season. the talent is there for sure.

Big East is my favorite conference and follow it very closely. No team should lay that many points especially on the road. I dont care how good Connecticut is, Notre Dame is not going to roll over. Big East is all about defense and teams will always keep it close.

G-man..Thanks.I didn't win anything tonite but in a way still won.Was going to play Conn esp if Francis wasn't go to play.
But 10 pts is a lot on the road.Was thinking..but read your post and layed off the play.Of course should of listened to you and would of won.
But saved money because of you.

thanks for the words. saving money is as good as a win sometimes. im a big believer that you should never go from liking one side to playing the complete opposite (because of persuasion or a post). better just to lay off the game entirely.

gl with the pirates. seems theres a lot of hall backers, so pulling for you guys.
