Where it is real F ing COLD
A miserable, I mean miserable weekend of football. Got killed in CFB and my Vikes looked like shit........ AGAIN!!

I want to see what we can do with this Monday Night Game.

1. You got a home divisional dog of 6 points as I type this.

2. You have the Public all over the Saints..

3. You have 1 team that beat the Vikes last week.. (Not a big deal now) and a team who got whacked by the Seahawks.

4. 49ers were 6 - 2 ATS at home last year while the Saints wer 4 - 4 on the road ats and 1 - 3 last 4 roadies.

The Niners are a team that should come out pist off and attempt to be highly physical against the Saints. Yet it is very tough to bet against the Saints due to their explosiveness. Reminds me of yesterday's jets/ Pats game.. I have read around and trends / systems point towards the NINERS in this one.. What about this trend? If the Favorite covered on Sunday night then the DOg covered on Monday night and Vice Versa.. Someone on this site did really well with that.. I think it is more coincidence than anything but I am leaning 49ers for some reason.. I think they play solid smashmouth defense and keep this close.. What do you guys think??

Agree with everything you said but...Alex Smith.
We know what to expect from Brees.

I have always been a big proponent of taking home dogs on Monday Nite.......for some reason though, I just can't see myself taking the 49ers tonight. I don't think the Saints are very happy with their last performance and have now had 11 days to get ready for this one. Alex smith is terrible. I fully expect the Saints to focus on shutting down Frank Gore and the mediocre running game, challenging them to compete thru the air. Once they fall behind and have to rely on their passing game, they are toast. Look what Seattle did to them.

I haven't decided for sure what I'm going to do yet. I know that I will NOT make a play on SF nor will I make a play on the Under. It's either going to be New Orleans, OVER or no bet. Heavily leaning on New Orleans at the moment.

Its one of those "everything i know about football says take the saints" but "everything i know about gambling says take the 49ers."

Sad thing is I dont know much about either.
:mj07:

49ers...good size play for me tonight.

Still looking at this game, but one thing I did notice is that the Niners next two games are on THE ROAD! I see this being a "must" win for them tonight at home! Hard going against NO though....for some reason I'm seeing a Saints win by 1-5 points, but SF getting the $$$$!! I just can't see both Super Bowl teams collecting for the public on back to back prime time games. Public won last night with Indy only -4 at home and now they have NO -5 with over 70% coming in on them. I might not be able to help myself though and go with the Saints.....we'll see.

Seems to me everyone is on the Niners... That's all I've read thus far. Line movement going with NO, but the forums are with SF.

And then the Seahawks get whacked by Den, so just how bad is SF?

Am I the only the who finds the 'Saints have a better D than the Niners' comments a bit funny? Seriously, in what universe is the Saints D better???

SF had one of the best defenses in the NFL last year, while the Saints were in the bottom third. Here's a breakdown:

Points allowed

SF - 281
NO - 341

Total yards

SF - 5222
NO - 5724

Yards Per Play

SF - 5.0
NO - 5.5

Passing 1st Downs Allowed

SF - 278
NO - 310

Passing Yards Allowed

SF - 3670
NO - 3769

TDs Allowed

SF - 14
NO - 15

Interceptions

SF - 18
NO - 26

Rushing Yards Allowed

SF - 1552
NO - 1955

Rushing TDs Allowed

SF - 12
NO - 19

Rushing Yards Per Attempt

SF - 3.6
NO - 4.5

Rushing 1st Downs Allowed

SF - 77
NO - 111

Ok, so NO has them beat in interceptions, but every other category goes to SF. There were a few other categories that were basically a push, so I didn't post them.

People keep talking about Smith vs. Brees (and neglect to mention that Smith doesn't play D, and that the Niners have a great defense), but IMO the game will be more about Gore against a very weak Saints run defense.

I'm beginning to think there are a lot of people who aren't very familiar with the Niners and are only betting on the Saints because they won the SB last year.

I just wanted to post this in case there were people betting on NO because they thought they had a better defense...

I'm a Saints fan and I think this is a HUGE trap... the public hit on the Colts and the over last night... from what I can tell the Saints ML, spread, and the over are getting pounded tonight... FWIW the Saints have the Falcons next Sunday... I would take the Niners ML, spread, and under
