nothing strong tonight- but one game stands out. normally, i eschew overs and avoid em at all costs- but the nit is a great tourney for overs in the right spots. and this should be one of them:
1 unit......virginia/st.johns over 145
st.johns is another team that follows the lead of their opponent, as far as tempo goes. if their opponent wants to play halfcourt ball, johnnies are good with that- if their opponent wants to run it and gun it- johnnies are cool with that too. hatten and company played a slow-down, halfcourt game with boston university in the opening round, which is what boston's style is. but back in the big east tourney, notre dame and boston college pushed the tempo- and the johnnies put their track shoes on and played two games in the 80's. virginia will be pushing the ball up at every chance, and this one should be played in the 150's. st.johns doesnt always do a great job defending the 3 ball (hello todd billett), virginia couldnt stop mike jarvis off the dribble right now (hello marcus hatten). should be a very uptempo game. we'll see how it goes.
slight lean to hawaii as well- but hesitate only because of the style of play. hawaii isnt a team that likes to bang and play physical. a big 10 team, even a mediocre one like minnesota, could give them some trouble. but tough not to lean to the dog in this one. but passing for now unless i find a (+9) or better
