1 unit....cincinnati (-140) over pittsburgh
1 unit....cleveland (+120) over baltimore
1 unit....detroit/minnesota under 9 (-120)
sometimes- opening a new ballpark puts some added pressure on the home team to win their first reg-season gm there, but i think the reds should be able to get it done. pirates lineup is so weak. even though im about a 80% dog player in mlb, i gotta lay this medium-chalk here. benson has all the talent in the world, but injuries have obviously set him back. we'll see if he can get off to a good start this season. i think the reds will hit him around a little bit
cleveland has one pitcher that will always be worth a look this year, and then the other 4 will most likely be money burners. sabathia really came on strong at the end of last season. his in-season personal issues set him back a little early on in the 2002 season. but his last 10 starts to close out the season were dominant. indians aint gonna win many games this season, but they should be able to get this opening day win. tribe really hit the ball well this spring- which is amazing because their lineup has a ton of holes. i think the indians will ride their "spring training hitting buzz" for the first week or so of the regular season, and then theyll be in some serious trouble when it comes to scoring runs.
dimensions are a little different at comerica, but this one should still be a nice opening day under. tigers lineup is another one thats gonna struggle to produce runs. radke has always been a good under pitcher- and maroth, while nowhere even NEAR a number 1 starter (him bein a #1 basically summarizes the current state of the tigers) - but he is at least a decent hurler and he mixes up his junk pretty well. he should be able to go 5 or 6 innings and keep the game close while hes out there.
