1-1 Sun -0.24 units

Record so far: 13-15, -3.16 units units flat bet 1 unit risk each pic.

I usually end my MLBX betting about now, at the two-week mark. The games begin to get a lot more regular starters in them, and betting them is more like regular season---but with less information. I have always made my money by betting the big mis-matches you see in the first few weeks.

But I will stick it out thru Friday to try and get my bankroll back up. I'm usually am way ahead at this point!---record from '03 on 2nd to last day of posting

Let's not forget Fletcher's classic thread----"playing spring training games? Then you're a Fool"

The Orioles host the American League East rival Red Sox on Monday and will start right-hander Daniel Cabrera, who has not pitched since March 5 against Washington. Left-hander Bruce Chen, who is competing for the final spot in the rotation, will follow Cabrera.

Cabrera pitched three scoreless innings against the Nationals, but his scheduled outing Wednesday against the Twins was rained out.

This will be a busy travel week for the Marlins, who head to Fort Myers on Monday to face the Twins. Dontrelle Willis, 1-0 while not allowing a run in the spring, makes his third Grapefruit League start. The D-Train hasn't given up a run in eight spring innings. Joe Mays, 0-0 with a 3.60 ERA, starts for the Twins.

The Marlins will start Dontrelle Willis against the Twins at Fort Myers on Monday. The team will spend the night on the west coast of the state.

Regular players who will travel to both games are Paul Lo Duca, Luis Castillo, Alex Gonzalez, Juan Encarnacion and Miguel Cabrera.

Mike Lowell, Carlos Delgado and Juan Pierre will not be going to Fort Myers or Tampa.

The Twins will see the Marlins for the first time this spring with a 12:05 p.m. CT game Monday at Hammond Stadium. Joe Mays will make his third start for Minnesota and will be opposed by Florida left-hander Dontrelle Willis

Left-hander Joe Kennedy (1-0, 1.80 ERA, two starts), the projected Opening Day starter, will start against Arizona on Monday at Tucson Electric Park, but the real competition begins once Kennedy leaves.

Kennedy will be followed by left-hander Brian Fuentes, then by right-hander Chin-hui Tsao -- two of the prime competitors for the closer job. Tsao (.182 batting average against, zero earned runs) has better stats than Fuentes (.400 average against, four earned runs in two innings pitched), but as of late last week, Hurdle was reluctant to declare Tsao a leader in the race for the job.

Oscar Villarreal will take the mound on Monday ...Villarreal will be shooting for 50-55 pitches in his first start of the spring. He's pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief, giving up five runs in a pair of outings

Zip missing: Villarreal was roughed up for five runs in just 1 2/3 innings and afterward said that while he didn't feel any discomfort, his arm felt "dead."

"There was no life on my ball," he said.

Villarreal is competing for the No. 5 spot in the rotation, but managed to get in just 39 pitches.

"He was cooked," Melvin said. "He was just cooked. He was out of gas. He just wasn't able to locate. I've said all along that if I didn't think he had enough endurance to start, that we'd put him in the bullpen. Still, we have to stretch him out a little bit, because even if he went into the bullpen he's going to have to throw a couple of innings and do it endurance-wise, so we'll see."

Edwin Jackson, Mike Venafro, Duaner Sanchez, Yhency Brazoban and Buddy Carlyle are scheduled to pitch for the Dodgers on Monday against Washington's Tomo Ohka. Oscar Robles will make the trip. The veteran of five years in the Mexican League had an RBI single Sunday in two at-bats, lowering his average to .583 (7-for-12).

Tomo Ohka, who missed most of last season with a fractured right radius, will make his second exhibition start of the spring.

The last time Ohka pitched was Thursday against the Indians. He tossed three shutout innings and gave up one hit and struck out three.

Jon Rauch, who is a candidate for the fifth spot in the rotation, will pitch one to three innings, while reliever Hector Carrasco will make his first appearance since being involved in a one-car accident on Wednesday night. Carrasco suffered minor neck, left shoulder and left wrist bruises

Right-hander Brett Myers, who limited the Blue Jays to one run in three innings last Tuesday, faces Toronto again Monday

The Blue Jays visit Clearwater on Monday for a day game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Toronto's Gustavo Chacin will make his second start and third appearance of the spring... Chacin cemented a spot in the rotation late in the week, when the Jays tabbed Miguel Batista as their closer.

Toronto's pitchers will step into the batter's box for the first time on Monday, when they play their first game in a National League opponent's home park.

Gibbons doesn't want any of his pitchers trying to be a hero -- he'd be thrilled if they looked at three pitches and walked back to the dugout, preparing for their next inning on the hill

Cardinals starter Jeff Suppan should see most of the Braves' starters in Monday's contest. With two consecutive road games against the Cardinals, Cox brought all of his position players on this trip.....The game will be carried live on ESPN

The Yankees return to Legends Field on Monday night, where they will take on the Pirates for the third time this exhibition season.

Carl Pavano will take the mound for his third outing of the spring on Monday. Torre said that the right-hander has been beating himself up over his performances in his first two games.

Pavano hasn't allowed a run in five innings this spring, giving up seven hits without walking a batter. Although the numbers look good, he hasn't been happy with his mechanics.

"It looks like when he's pitching, he's thinking mechanically," Torre said. "We've got to get through that."

Dave Williams gets the starting nod for Pittsburgh.(battling for final spot in rotation)

Gary Sheffield should be in the lineup on Monday, when the Yankees host the Pirates at Legends Field.

Too bad to hear you calling it in Terry. Your providing daily information is greatly appreciated & will be missed.
Being a newbie to exhibitiongames, I'm observing a fading streak winner during the exhibition see if I can apply it for next year.

Hope to see you back when regular season start.
