Yankees (Clemens) @ Texas (Helling)

I am taking the Rangers here sometimes you have to go against the numbers so I am not going to post my usual write up as most of the numbers favor the Yankees but I think that the Yankees are in the perfect let down spot here and are in a perfect spot to bet against them. Clemens can't win this game by himself, the Yankees are coming off of a very draining series against the Mariners both physically and mentally, and Helling pitches very well against the Yankees. So I am going to make a pick I know that 99.9% of you will say I am crazy for picking but hey sometimes you just have to do what you have to do!

Play Texas +140

You can post here all you want Ray I just see the Yankee bats sleeping tonight and Texas coming off of a road trip so I think both teams bats will be a little sluggish against these pitchers. Just the way I see it if the Yankees hadn't just come off of that series against the Mariners I would be on over but 9.5 is to high for these two pitchers, the last 9 times Helling has pitched against the Yankees the under is 7-2 and CLemens won't just give up like I said you have to look past the numbers sometimes I may be wrong but I think this game goes Texas and under9.5 -110.

Trio of Pudge, A-rod and Palmeiro hit NYY very well over the last 3 years. Clemens 4.50 ERA in 6 games vs. Tex over last 4 years.

Playing Devil's Advocate, you can say that Clemens inherits the role of a stopper today, if you consider two losses to the Mariners as a problem. Clemens hasn't lost a game in almost 3 months and more amazingly for him, he hasn't given up a home run in his last four starts. I can understand all the reasons that Texas is value, but you have a pitcher with an era almost 2 runs better in Clemens; an overall pitching staff with an era almost 2 runs lower ( 3.97 - 5.79). But the Rangers have a potent line-up to offset pitching woes, though team batting averages are virtually the same. Good luck to all.

living in Boston I can remember the countless times Clemens ended short losing streaks. He absolutely prided himself doing so. Black cloud Point is well taken. Although not Houston, Arlington is Texas which is home for Roger. This means he will turn up 1 more notch. Raymond you said yourself you have 7 quality plays! Why not pass on Texas Yankees? Remember what you said yesterday don't force plays.

Well I knew allot of people would be against me on this play and since you want to point out the difference in their ERA's I thought I would throw in my 2 cents on it Helling is a much different pitcher at home where he is 7-2 ERA of 3.77 WHile CLemens ERA on the road is 3.90 6-1 record. Just my littel FYI!

Oh and by the way I wasn't using the Seattle losses as an example to take the Rangers I am taking them because that was a very taxing series their was allot of emotion while Texas is coming off of 2 very easy wins over the Blue Jays. And just like I said before Clemens can't win the game by himself he will need some runs.
