This is a play contrary to the public play
Toronto @ Islanders Under 5 Goals - 3 to win 3.6
Toronto has been Islander's biathch over quite some time in NYC.
Toronto had a closed door meeting betn its played before the Montreal game and the results obviously showed when they shutout the Canadiens.
Islanders in 4 games have scored
1 goal Vs Washington
6 goals Vs Sabres
2 goals Vs Thrashers
2 goals Vs Florida
Dont let the 2.75 goals per game average fool you. Islanders had 2 PP goals in 9 chances against washington and are 0 - 11 in PP chances since then.
Belfour has started 8 games against Islanders (with different teams) and has NEVER given up more than 3 goals to the Islanders.
I know Toronto are short of good defenceman but they attacked the Canadiens on the board and if that continues there is no way that Islanders get as many shots on goal as they did against Florida in their home opener (2 goals on 46 shots)
Leafs have given up
4 goals to Canadiens
2 goals to Caps (late come back)
2 goals to Devils (late come back)
0 goals to Canadiens
Look for Belfour to have another solid game. I was looking at taking the Under 5 Goals @ + money but I think the + will move up since more people will bet the Under.
Di Pietro has been solid in the net so far in 3 games giving up 0, 2 and 1 goals in his 3 starts. That was against the Sabres, Thrashers and Panthers respectively.
Leafs are averaging 1.25 goals per game scoring
0 goals Vs Canadiens
2 goals Vs Caps
2 goals Vs Devils
1 goal Vs Montreal
The only concern I will say I have is the number of penalties. Refs love to whistly against Leafs and with the new directive if the stick is in the air we may see another whistle.
Hopefully Mogilny is not playing today.
Florida @ Rangers Under 5 Goals - 3 to win 2.5
Was thinking of Rangers Team Total Under 3 Goals or the Game Total. But Rangers may score more and not allow Florida to score hence the Game Total.
Florida is averaging 1.6 goals per game while allowing 1.6 goals per game themselves.
Rangers are scoring 1.25 goals per game while allowing 3 goals per game. Rangers allowed 5 goals each vs the Jackets and the Wild on the road in their first 2 games but have settled down since then to shut out the Thrashers and allow 2 goals to Florida.
Rangers seem to be playing better in front of their home crowd as they can be booed incessantly.
I know the "due" theory. Rangers are due for a big game. This may be it but I will take my chances against them playing poorly on offence.
Florida does allow a lot of shots on goal. They allowed a ridiculous 46 shots on goal against the Islanders. Luongo was as usual stellary stopping 44 of those.
The last time these two teams met they combined for 73 shots on goal. The meeting before that they had 81 shots on goal. But Florida top line is not what it was before. And Rangers are not playing very well.
Again the concert about penalties as Florida does give up a lot of power play chances to their opponents. But hopefully Luongo will save the day.
In 2 starts Vs Florida (playing for Rangers) Dunham has allowed 2 goals to Florida each time.
Last meeting betn these two ended in a 2-1 Florida win.
Luongo does not have very pretty numbers against Rangers on the road but he has been sharp this season and is playing much better than previous years.
May the Under Gods be with US
Good luck to all
Cheers !!!
