ddubs, can I ask why you like the Flygirls so much tonight?

I am a big Flyers fan (also a Boilermaker - sad about their ugly lost to the Wolverines ). I live in Philly and watch these guys every chance I get. So far, I have not been impressed with their defense or goaltending. In their first game, it looks like they are going to be a dominating team. So far, they have not live to their potential.

I know the Flygirls swept the series last year (w/ Chec in goal), but Hackett has a horrible record vs. Montreal. Could you give some insight on how you see this game being played out? Thx.

Loverboy, very sorry for the lateness in reply. I was in a rush to leave when I posted, and when I came back, my internet connection was down until just now:mad:. It's sort of pointless to talk about a pick after the game started, but I'll give you a quick list of why I pick the Flygirls, who're looking like FlyMEN so far:p......

1. 1st road game for Mont after a long homestand (6 games to be exact)......strong go against angle
2. 2nd home game for Philly after a long road swing, and after a predictably poor performance in 1st home game......strong angle
3. LeClair back to give offense a boost
4. Philly has proven they can score vs Mont, 18goals in 4 games last yr, 13 goals in 4 games the yr prior
5. Philly's physical style neutralized Mont's speed, and I was counting on Koivu still being out
6. Several concensus sites have Mont as the popular pick, and the line steadily moved toward Mont since the line opened

Add in the PP, PK, SOG for and against, goalie revenge (although Esche started instead) and a few other trends/angles made me decide to make it my 3rd 3unit play of the yr. Hope this helps. Again, sorry I couldn't reply earlier:(

BTW, very upset about the Boiler loss. Fortunately, I wasn't able to watch a minute of it, but looking at the boxscore was painful enough already. I think we can still go 3-1 the rest of the way, and with a little luck might go 4-0, sneak back into the BCS picture and hit a major bowl game. The Ohio St game will be a HUGE factor, for sure. Keeping my fingers crossed:D

Good luck tonite!

p.s. WIZZ, don't worry about it, buddy. Wish I had hit the Rams with you. But I still have plenty of leftovers from the ML winners and 2 teamers I hit from your Mizzou and Auburn picks 2 weeks ago:D.

ddubs, thanks for the great response...and pick$!

total domination by the flyers tonite. that's what we had expected from them since day one. finally playing like they should. great call!

what a gutsy comeback by the thrashers. one of the most exciting finishes i've seen yet!! this team has a lot of heart! thank you, savard!

hope the boilermakers can mount a similar finish. ;)
