St. Louis Rams - QB Rotation: Marc Bulger, Chris Chandler, Jeff Smoker (exact amount of playing time still to be determined).
Offensive line thin: It's still without Orlando Pace (contract dispute), and some minor injuries to OT Jeremy Phillips (neck), OT Kyle Turley (back) and C Dave Wohlabaugh was released this week.
Injured: CB Robert Cromartie (hamstring), FB Joey Goodspeed (hamstring), RB Lamar Gordon (ankle), CB DeJuan Groce (knee), DT Jimmy Kennedy (foot).
K.C. Chiefs - QB Rotation: Trent Green (1 Q+, maybe first half), Todd Collins (will follow Green), Damon Huard, Casey Clausen.
Coach Dick Vermeil said the starting offense will get more action Monday night against the Rams than it did in the preseason opener against the Giants. Specifically, Trent Green and Priest Holmes will play more. Green played three series and looked sharp completing seven of 11 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown against the Giants. Holmes played two series and gained 24 yards in two carries.
?We will play them a little more,? Vermeil said. ?I have not talked to the staff yet, but my basic thought is to play the first half. I want to rotate guys in who we want to see play with the starters and see them. Or put a No. 2 guy in and take a starter out. That type of thing."
The following players will not play Monday: Mike Maslowksi (knee), Jason Dunn (groin), Jerome Woods (hamstring), Johnnie Morton (Achilles), Eddie Freeman (knee), Jeris McIntyre (hamstring), Billy Baber (leg), Scott Shields (ankle) and Isaac White (hand).
Secondary banged up a bit: CB Eric Warfield sat out Friday's practice (sore back) but worked Saturday and will start Monday night. According to Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil, CB Dexter McCleon (shoulder) is ?questionable to doubtful? and LB Monty Beisel (hip flexor) is doubtful. If McCleon is unable to play, William Bartee will start in his place and Julian Battle will be the third cornerback.
Defense coming along slowly: ?Our defense isn't put together yet,? coach Dick Vermeil said. ?I'm confident it will get put together. I just don't know how long (it will take).? The Chiefs are still searching for personnel for some of their defensive packages. Foremost is a rush end for passing situations. That job might be split by Vonnie Holliday, R-Kal Truluck and Gary Stills.
WR Eddie Kennison (wrist) will not play Monday. Dante Hall and Marc Boerigter will start at wide receiver.
KC has a new defensive coordinator in Gunther Cunningham.
Defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham has been after his players to aggressively attack the line of scrimmage and plug gaps along the way. The style is in stark contrast to former defensive coordinator Greg Robinson's system which asked players to read and react.
The Chiefs gained 311 first-half yards last week against the Giants. A drawback was penalites: KC had 19 penalites for 160 yards.
