Tennessee Titans - QB Rotation: Steve McNair (1 Q), Billy Volek (2 Q), Jason Gesser (3 Q).
Coach Jeff Fisher indicated the starters may not see much action against the Cowboys but may get more work in the preseason finale against Green Bay Sept. 3. "The concern is that if you don't play a lot of snaps in the last preseason game that there is too much time," Fisher said. "You play a lot in the third and then there is almost a week off. What we want to do is carry momentum."
Backup QB Robert Kent was released.
Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth (foot) practiced but is not expected to play Monday night. He should play in Friday's preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers.
Cornerback Samari Rolle (ankle) may play a few series against the Cowboys.
Punter Craig Hentrich (back) won't punt against the Cowboys, but he'll hold for field goals and extra points. RB Jarrett Payton (knee) did not practice Saturday and will be a game-time decision.
Offensive lineman Matt Martin may miss up to a week with a sprained right ankle.
The Titans don't know who's going to carry the load at left defensive end, but they know it won't be Kevin Carter. The 10-year veteran is now permanently at tackle. Asked if Carter could move back to end, Coach Jeff Fisher said, "It's not possible. He's doing too well inside." Defensive tackle Rien Long played eight snaps at left end against the Bills Saturday and was lost. "We called a zone blitz and he didn't know what to do," defensive line coach Jim Washburn said. "We're going to look at several options out there, but not Carter."
Titans Coach Jeff Fisher is not pleased with special teams through two preseason games. ''I'm not confident with the return situation yet, at all,'' he said. ''We have some work to do.'' Jake Schifino, one of the primary return candidates, left Thursday practice with hamstring and back stiffness. Fisher is not happy with coverage teams either.
Dallas Cowboys - QB Rotation: Vinny Testaverde (will start and play into the 3rd Q), Drew Henson or Tony Romo (will sub late).
Bill Parcells said he will treat Monday's game against Tennessee as somewhat of a dress rehearsal for the season, with the starters playing at least into the third quarter. That means that Vinny Testaverde will get the bulk of the work at quarterback, and either Drew Henson or Tony Romo will sub in late.
Parcells said he will play his starters into the third quarter leaving little mop-up time for the reserves.
Testaverde, 40, might also play, instead of starting Henson, against Kansas City four days later in the preseason finale. Parcells said Testaverde needs as much work as possible before the season opener. "I am going to play the guy that is going to play," Parcells said. "I think Testaverde needs work. Everybody is ready to put him in the cemetery. I'm trying to dig him up."
Newly signed defensive tackle Chad Eaton will play against Tennessee on Monday.
Secondary issues: Neither Pete Hunter nor Jemeel Powell has grabbed the starting right corner spot. With questions about safety Darren Woodson's recovery from back surgery, Tony Dixon's ability as Woodson's replacement and a lack of depth behind Dixon and Roy Williams, the secondary looks like it could be a problem.
