3-1 yesterday. now 92-77 overall. still looking for some consistency of late. four plays for today:
sf/col over 12
mon/fla under 8-
hou/stl over 9
bos/nyy under 9: i'm really excited about watching this game today on espn. no better setting than clemens pitching for no. 300 against the red sox in yankee stadium. althought the price is too steep for me to consider taking the rocket, still have to believe that roger's history as a big game pitcher will show through today,. clemens probably knows that he'll need a low scoring game to assure the win, as the yankees are clearly not the same team without williams in the lineup and they were slumping offensively before he went down. clemens has a 2.47 era against the sox since the trade, and a 3.29 career era in yankee stadium.
while wakefield hasn't been particulrly impressive against the yankees in his career (5.40 era), he is a veteran road warrior and has an excellent 3.26 career era in day games. with the rain and a stiff wind blowing in from left center, his knuckler should prove testly for the stuggling yanks.
also, it should be interesting to see what role weather plays in todays game. i would expect this game to at least be delayed some today by the rain. if roger is pitching well in a low scoring, fast moving game, i think there to be a fair amount of unspoken pressure on the umps to finish the game. on the other hand, if roger is getting shelled early, i wonder if the blues will be inclined to wash out the game.
remember the occasion of the day; glta!
