Uh oh. I'm getting crazy and actually playing THREE games today. I think I've been drinking too much of grandpa's cough syrup.
Balt/A's Under 8.5 240/200 - I hardly ever play totals and I never play overs, but I will play the occasional under if I like what I see. Haren is a great pitcher who, in my opinion, flies a little under the radar because he's in the shadow of Harden. He only has two starts at Camden but he's 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA and a .136 BAA. The O's have been playing very well but I don't think their bats explode against Haren.
On the other side Bedard is a solid, if not spectacular, lefty. And let's be honest, the A's don't score very many runs against anyone. Bedard has some GREAT numbers against the A's. Kendall 3 for 15... Scutaro 0 for 14... Chavez 0 for 8... Kielty 1 for 13... Shannon Stewart 0 for 12, etc. I think this will be a 4-3 type game.
Angels ML 290/200 - Never been a big fan of Maroth. He's 2-0 so far this year but his ERA is over 5 and his WHIP is 1.62. Against the Angels he's 4-1 with a 4.66 ERA but his ERA at the Big A is 5.68. A few guys that him hard... Anderson .304, Guerrero .444 (with 5 HRs in 18 at bats), Hillenbrand .353 and Matthews .444. The Angels might not light him up like they did the M's but I do think they will touch him up for a few runs. I also really like that their bats have come to life and it looks like they're about to make a run.
As far as I can tell Weaver has never pitched against the Tigers. That doesn't worry me much because he's one of the best young pitchers in baseball. His last start against the A's was his first since his injury and with the exception of a couple of mistakes, he pitched pretty well. I know the Tigers are a good team but considering how good Weaver is, and considering how lights out he is in his career at the Big A (5-1 with a 2.06 ERA), I think this is a fair line. In fact, this might be one of the lower Weaver lines you will see this year.
Rangers ML 420/300 - I think the Mayor is going to kick me out of the city if I keep going against the M's. Oh well... I have to be honest, I can't stand Kevin Millwood. I've always thought he was incredibly overrated. However, the M's are really scuffling right now and their bats are non-existent. They just got swept by the Halos and now they have to fly into Texas. Although Millwood is far from great he's actually 5-2 with a 3.31 ERA against Seattle over the last few years. I don't think he's pitching a shutout tomorrow, but I think he'll pitch well enough to get the win.
The M's have called up Cha-Seung Baek (sp?) to take Felix's spot. Although he hasn't pitched in the majors this year he's been called up before. He's nothing special. If there was such thing as a crafty righty that would be Baek. It's a tough break for him that his first start has to be against the Rangers at Ameriquest. I just can't see him shutting down the Rangers offense.
I also have a lean on the Yanks and would probably play them if Igawa hadn't struggled so much and if there were bullpen didn't suck so bad. They actually brought in Kevin James from The King of Queens to pitch in yesterday's game. Or was that Louie Anderson? At any rate Torre asked me to dust off my cleats and make the trip down to Tampa tomorrow so I may not be able to post. I gotta be honest, I don't even know if I can hit 80 on the gun anymore!
Good luck tomorrow gents!
