I'm looking for tonight's game between the Orioles and Blue Jays to go OVER. Both these clubs have topped the posted price in three of their last four overall and this one's going over, too.
This will be the fourth time that these two pitchers, Baltimore's Kris Benson and Toronto's Casey Janssen, have faced each other this season. Two of the first three encounters resulted in a run total that went over and I look for more of the same tonight. Benson in fact has seen three of his four career starts against the Jays sail over.
Benson (5.64 ERA) has had five of six road starts go over this year as he continues to adjust to the American League parks and hitters. He'll get lit up by baseball's top offensive club, but I look for Janssen to struggle, too.
His numbers have been solid overall, but a closer look shows he pitches much better during the day (2-0, 2.70) than he does at night (3-3, 3.47). And he hasn't shown he has mastered the Orioles as he's 1-2 with a 4.50 versus Baltimore this season.
Baltimore has hit righties well this year (.288)and the most likely return of Jay Gibbons to the lineup this evening should provide a boost. Baltimore has gone over in 10 Benson's 13 starts this year and this will sail over, as well.
