I think one of the hardest things to do sometimes is have a winning day after a sweep the day before. Don't know why, just happens that way for me. Do you use gut feeling for your picks or are you banging out the number on your computer and coming up with these plays. Just curious :)

I'm not a trends/numbers player at all. I actually like totals more than sides. I follow some teams more closely than others, and will wait for a few games and then pounce on something I expect to happen, like the Texas over on total team runs. So, yes, I'd say it's more gut instinct. I look for situations or spots that have significance, not trends and numbers, although when there is a significant trend that others' post I do add that in to the equation. I usually just look at a series and see if there is a result I expect to happen during that series. I may sit out the first game and then chase that result the next two games.

I guess you and I are in the same boat then. I really hate crunching numbers. To be honest, I don't really believe a whole lot of past numbers predict the numbers to come. Personally, I think that just helps people feel better about their plays. I know that sounds a bit harsh, and it's not meant to sound that way, but its just what I believe. My gut feeling will overrule anything when it comes to placing a wager, and it's always done me just fine. :) The main thing for me is not playing games every single day, especially baseball, because the grind of a whole season will kill ya. Baseball is so streaky (just look at teams like the Braves and Royals). Anyways, I know this is just my brain emptying onto a computer screen, so I'll shut up now. :mj07: I wish you luck with everything (including the Imus thread) ;)

HA! I think I'm done with the Imus thread. LOL...Like you, I believe that each situation is an independent event and that just because someone is 4-1 in day games doesn't mean they will win the next day game. I will slightly figure that it amongst a number of other factors, but that's about all the weight I give it. Good luck to you in all your plays, as well!

So what's the over/under of time it takes for this thread to be invaded and taken off topic? ;) Good call with leaving the Imus thread alone. Pretty sure you could just :banghead: and save yourself the aggravation of going in there.

How long have you been gambling? (if you don't mind me asking) get my Email from Jack if you would rather talk about this outside of the forum

I think they'll stay over in the general forum...plenty to do there, LOL. I've been sports gambling since I was about 21. I was able to get over to Nevada occasionally and drop some wagers. I've been doing it more seriously about the last 3 or 4 years. I don't really like any other type of gambling, but since I'm a sports nut this gets my competitive juices flowing.

I'm sure you've heard this before but you have to be a one in a million kinda girl then. A woman that loves sports, likes to gamble, is competitive......etc etc etc. That's pretty freakin' cool. I'm definitely nothing more than a casual gambler for sure. I work the 8 to 5 at a law firm during the week (no, i'm not a lawyer). I throw in the occasional few hundred into the offshore accts and try to hit something good. I've just learned that kinda of discipline because, like you, I started at the age of 21, while I was finishing up college. I got carried away just a bit back then, learned my lesson, and now, I am wiser and know you can't beat the house, but you sure as hell can try to hurt it a bit. ;)

How cool! I realize I am very unusual. My whole family is really into sports, we all grew up playing, even into college. I have two older brothers and we'd head over to Nevada when we got the chance to watch all of the New Year's bowl games, etc...Then, when the internet options became available my brother got me into that. Like you, I've learned tons over the last three years - most of it related to discipline and self-control. Sounds like you and I are on the same page there. Like you, I work my day job, but boy is wagering fun. It's just the thrill of competition and trying to outsmart the system.
