May have more later, but will start with this one. One funny thing that happened last night during the Warriors-Nuggets game... the Golden State announcers at one point during the third quarter said something like this: "The Nuggets have more points off turnovers, the Warriors have more turnovers, the Nuggets have more points in the paint, more rebounds, and more free throw attempts. Yet somehow the Warriors are winning. This is just impossible."
As a person who likes to follow statistics in relation to wins, yes it was. And yes, it was! The Manimal came through huge last night. As a Nuggets fan, it was a fun fourth quarter to watch. On to tonight...
Since the 2010 season, the Grizzlies are 21-4 SU (+6.7) and 18-7 ATS when seeking same-season revenge as a home favorite. The Clippers have the better back court, but a lot of the reason they are good is because they feed the front court. This is a tough matchup inside for them, as Memphis has the second best front court in the league. The efficiency difference between the Grizzlies front court at home and the Clippers front court on the road is +14.5.
In the previous matchup this season, the Grizzlies held Griffin to 11 points and 7 rebounds. Jamal Crawford had 29 and the Clippers shot 51.4% from the field. Memphis shot 38.4% and only lost by 9. The Grizzlies were leading after the third quarter.
The Clippers playing as a road dog after beating the same team earlier at home in the same season are 3-17 SU (-9.8) and 4-15 ATS since the 2010 season. The Clippers lost to the Magic at home on Saturday.
In their last game against the Mavericks, Memphis shot 38.1 percent and failed to force 10 turnovers. This was the first time in 139 games that they didn?t force 10 turnovers. I expect them to step up defensively tonight.
"We didn't have maybe one, maybe one-and-a-half starters that could bring it,'' coach Lionel Hollins said after Rudy Gay (12) was the only starter in double figures. "Our focus and concentration wasn't there.''
Their focus and concentration will be there tonight. This season the Grizzlies are 12-5 SU and 13-4 ATS vs. teams with a winning record (average line -2.3).
This is a big matchup for the Clippers as well. I don?t see them looking past this game, but it is interesting to note that they have the Rockets on deck tomorrow.
Grizzlies -2.5 x2
Good luck...
