My son is doing great. We'll go to the Med Center next week for an exam and blood tests. Hopfully, he's got it whipped.

Thanks for asking.

Hi Mizzou: just wanted to add my wishes to your son also. Don't know if you ever saw my previous reply but I also have whipped Leukemia for the last 13 years and there's no doubt in my mind that with all the advances of modern medicine your son will too.

Congrats on beating that awful disease. There are many questions I'd love to ask an adult who's actually gone through treatment, such as how certain meds. make you feel, etc. ... and do I tell my son about him having leukemia when he gets older or would he worry about it forever.

take care,
JB

Hi Mizzou: would gladly love to answer any questions. How do I get in touch with you? I don't know the rules here about giving out e-mail addresses or asking for someone's e-mail address. I'll gladly give you mine if it's allowed.

MASTERBETS PLAYS
Extra NBA Pick
Rockets @ T-Blazers; Rockets +7

The Vegas line for this game has already moved from 4 (the overnight line) to 7, making the Rockets big dogs. The concept of "insider information" is absolute nonsense. If you honestly believe that there are Wiseguys who know more about any NBA game than you can, if you do the homework, then you deserve to pay bogus handicapping services thousands of dollars a year. When a line moves like this it is based purely on opinion and speculation, and more often than not it pays to go the other way. Houston played very well against the Kings where poor officiating hurt them, and ultimately cost them the game. Portland have been playing very well, but they are certainly no value to cover a spread of this magnitude. We like to play the percentages, and taking the points and the Rockets is the right play right now!
Tournament Picks
Fantastic March Madness Picks

NBA Picks
Bulls @ Pacers; Pacers -12

Monday's best bet is in the game between Indiana and Chicago, where the Pacers will cover. The Bulls have a pitiful road record. They're 7-27 overall, and the majority of those wins were earlier in the season. They're 2-16 going into this game and they have a tendency to lose by large margins. The last three defeats were by 24, 12, and 33 points respectively. Now they have to face Indiana who have a polar opposite record at home: 26-7. The Pacers have lost 3 of their last 4 and will be ready for this one. That's bad news for the linesmakers. Expect Indiana to cover, and lay the 12 points as your best bet of the day.

NIT Picks: St Louis @ Notre Dame; Notre Dame -5.5

It takes national tournaments to judge the true merits of regular season performances, and one school whose stock has risen as a result is Notre Dame. We've liked this team all season long, and they were a trifle unlucky not to make it to the Big Dance. They certainly have the ability, and now we know that the Big East was tougher than it may have looked with Pitt, UConn, and Syracuse showing that they are upper-echelon teams. By contrast Conference USA has had its shortcomings exposed, as we suspected it would. Cincinnati, Memphis, De Paul, and Louisville were all beaten badly, and only a miraculous effort from UAB has prevented a Tournament whitewash.

The bottom line is that this line needs to be attacked. A 5.5 point spread is not enough distance between a very good team and a very average one, and we think the Fighting Irish will cover it with ease.

NIT Picks: Oklahoma @ Michigan; Oklahoma +4

If you didn't know how good the Big 12 Conference was before March Madness started chances are you do now. And all that talk about how below-average the Big 10 was turned out to be fact. The Sooners are underdogs for this game, but they look like great value to us when you consider how undervalued their 8-8 conference record is. Michigan's 8-8 Big 10 record was mediocre at best, and even though they managed to defeat Missouri in the first round by a single point, they will struggle to deal with Oklahoma and their chances of winning ATS seem slim. We'll take the points and the underdog victory here.

BIG AL...St.Louis

Handicapper: Big Al McMordie

League: College Basketball

Event: Notre Dame vs Saint Louis on 03-22-2004 at 16:00

Condition: Saint Louis

Grade: Ungraded

Explanation: At 7:00 PM, we have a 3* play on St. Louis + over Notre Dame, in a game that will be played at Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The Billikens beat Iowa 70-69 in the Opening Round of the NIT, but failed to cover the 3-point spread, while Notre Dame outlasted Purdue 71-59. But since January 15, 1998, St. Louis is a perfect 10-0 ATS off a win in which they failed to cover a pointspread of less than 10 points. Take the Billikens. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.

3G-Sports big newsletter pick

Today's BONUS NCAA Winner:

NEBRASKA at HAWAII 11pm E.

The Stan Sheriff Center is the site of tonight's NIT second round contest between the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. The winner of tonight's game will take on either Michigan or Oklahoma in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Although it is the second round of the NIT the Cornhuskers have already defeated two other teams in this event. Nebraska, recorded a thrilling 71-70 victory over intrastate foe Creighton in the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday before holding off Niagara, 78-70, in the first round on Friday. The pair of wins improved the Cornhuskers to an impressive 22-11 in 12 all-time trips to the postseason NIT. Nebraska picked up its only postseason basketball championship in 1996, when the Huskers won five consecutive games to take the NIT crown. As for Hawaii, it upset 25th- ranked Utah State on Wednesday, earning its spot in the second round of the tournament. The victory was the Warriors' first-ever over a nationally ranked team !
on its opponent's homecourt. With the win Hawaii was rewarded with a home game, which is good news considering the team is 5-1 all-time in the NIT when hosting another squad. Overall, the Warriors have posted a 9-7 mark in nine all-time appearances in the postseason NIT. Hawaii leads the all-time series with Nebraska 4-2, including an 87-62 victory in the most recent meeting in 1997.

Nebraska converted 24-of-32 free-throw attempts, including a perfect 12-of-12 in the final minute of its eight-point victory over Niagara in the first round of the tournament. The Cornhuskers shot a decent 43.9 percent from the floor, but hit on just 4-of-14 long-range attempts. Nebraska made up for the poor three-point shooting by winning the battle on the boards, 40-38, and outscoring Niagara in the paint, 32-26. John Turek and Nate Johnson each tallied 17 points in leading Nebraska to victory. Johnson, who hit the deciding lay-up against Creighton, finished the game 5-of-13 from the floor, while Turek ripped down a team-best eight boards. Brian Conklin added 14 points, five boards and four assists, which was a dramatic improvement from his three point and three assist effort in the opening round against Creighton.

Hawaii shot a scorching 61.8 percent from the floor, including an 8-of-13 effort from behind the arc in its 11-point first round victory over Utah State. The Warriors also converted 9-of-11 free-throw attempts, while each team grabbed 28 boards. Michael Kuebler, who led the team in scoring (18.0 ppg) coming into the NIT, paced the Warriors with a game-high 28 points and six assists. Jeff Blackett turned in 18 points and six boards off the bench with 9-of-12 shooting from the floor. Jason Carter added 13 points and six assists, while Julian Sensley contributed 12 points and nine rebounds in the winning effort. Coming into the NIT, Sensley was the team's second leading scorer with 12.2 ppg respectively.

I don't see Hawaii shooting 61% again tonight and NEBRASKA is TOO BIG and TOO STRONG INSIDE and should have their way tonight on the boards and dominating inside. The BIG RED of Nebraska is ALL BUSINESS tonight and they will be on the beaches celebrating this WIN the rest of the week.

Take NEBRASKA +2.5 as a BEST BET WINNER
PREDICTION: NEBRASKA WINS 70-63
