You guys are extremely out of line by taking up this attack on StevieD. I don't know if your trying to wrap yourself up in the flag by making those against you politically seem anti-American or if your just immature assholes creating drama.
I could not agree more. In the past I have refrained from posting in the Political Forum for the same reason that 99% of the members here at MJ?s have. It seems to me that this forum is full of regular posters who have no sense of common decency and in fact live to ridicule others who do not agree with their own ideology.

The arguments that many make here are entirely misguided and only serve to perpetuate the widening gap between the two major political parties in this country. Why must a person be vilified simply because he or she feels that our government?s efforts in Iraq might be somewhat misguided? The constitution certainly gives each of us the right to express our opinions on all matters, public and private and when a topic specifically relates to the actions of our government, it is indeed our duty to voice our opinion.

Those that choose to undermine that duty that we all share by mudslinging and name calling are only serving as proof of why that right (and duty) is so important to our democracy. I have frequently been convinced by some of these discussions on this board that if the posters with opposing opinions were face to face that there would be blood shed over these matters. Please tell me that I am wrong about this because if I am not, this says things about our people that I do not want to hear.

At this juncture in the war in Iraq, is it really important who said what about WMD?s two and three years ago? Is it necessary to post the same quotes over and again in the hope that it will make a point that was somehow not made the first time? Do you freaks really have nothing better to do with your time than to make the same pointless arguments again and again? Do any of you really believe that your constant denigrating of those who do not think exactly like you do is in any way constructive? Perhaps you actually believe that your hateful exchanges will somehow make a difference or (God forbid) change the world?

Personally, I am unimpressed by your incessant ranting in the name of patriotism. It might help if you actually made a point that made sense from time to time. I frankly, have seen better ?debates? in high school competitions although you give the drama queens on the daily soaps a pretty good run for their money.

Oh yeah, you can save the personal attacks against me that are assuredly forthcoming. You see, I do not give a rat?s ass what you guys have to say much less what you think about me.

Why spend all that time typing out your little temper tantrum then? Why read our posts? :mj03:

Like Sheehan doesn't attack what I say Murph??? lol Are you waving a white flag for him? For the record, I only quote StevieD's own words. He's an anti-American....should I start a thread showing 50 anti-American comments he's made??? Dare me? :poke

Just like with Kerry, Hillary, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Kennedy, Pelosi, etc. etc. and all the other liberal cowards who refuse to be held accountable by their own word, StevieSheehan's words are forgotten. It's utterly rediculous that you could be an American and defend this guy Murph. If you're going to do something like laugh about 2,000 dead American troops and glorify the U.S. death toll then get ready to get blasted. Thank god he's not over there spreading democracy.

Manson, I have shown you to be a twister of the truth and a liar. I have shown DTB to be a flip flopper. First he says we won the war in Iraq then he says he never said it, then when confronted with his quote he said he stands by it! Hypocritacal BS! Just like you. Manson, how many people do you need to say to you that you misrepresented what I said? And stop dissing the dead soldiers mother.

Why should anyone be asked not to "diss" the dead soldier's mom? It is ok for her to twist the history of her own son's situation for her own sake; ok for her to "diss" the President of the United States; soldiers throughout the world; etc - but we should be careful not to step on her toes? Can you explain why?

Because she is a grieving mother. You should be able to make your point without ridiculing her. If you want to disagree with her do so. But no need to take cheap shots at her.

Is this the face of a GRIEVING MOTHER??Ferdville you are exactly right. This is the woman who refered to AlQaida terrorists as "Freedom Fighters". And just like StevieD she is constantly slamming the troops. She can rot in hell.

Yeah, it's common knowledge that there is not one recorded instance of a truly grieving mother smiling for the rest of her life. Good point.

I'm sure she's not grieving at all.

Defending her? Ummm, I don't think so. I guess I just think it's classless to mock somebody who lost a son for this bullshit war.

She's annoying as hell and i'm sick of seeing her all over the TV, but one thing has nothing to do with another, unless you're a simpleton with a one-track mind. No offense to you personally.

In response, no offense ever taken Kosar. Your warped views of reality and unrelenting fountain of arrogance and disconnect crack me up. What would this board be without you?

I can't believe how soft some of you have become. Taking shots at her? A grieving mother? Please.........most people that grieve do so privately or with their closest friends and family. They don't make a spectacle of themselves and become newshounds. This dispicable war really wasn't a problem for her until her son died. Then everything changed. You can sympathize with her all you want, but she has invited everything she got. You call her a grieving mother - I call her an attention you know what.

I dunno who is against Christmas. We have people trying to kill us and someone gets upset because someone says Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays? I take the greeting with the spirit it was intended. Of course there are some nuts out there who are against it but I have to think that the vast majority of Americans feel just like most of us. It is just another attempt to further split us. Merry Christmas to all. And if you don't like it....oh well.

That is how I feel Stevie if I know someone has a different faith I will say happy holidays to them I open doors for old people and say it to everyone when I am out, hell the world sucks most of the year at least we should be able to give some joy and have some joy at least this time of the year, I find moy joy in maling someone smile then getting anything, I have enough shit i don't need so a smile and some happiness is good enough for me.

Just not 30 mins ago on the news anthoer group trying to stop the words of merry christmas it was on cnn and fox local. I think people like this have way to much time on their hands. I know in the past years there has been people trying to steal christmas from schools and other places but have not really paid to much to it but this year seems like a all out war from these people and i call them bleeding hearts but really for all i know could be extream people from the other side trying to make middle of the road free thinking libs look bad, like i said I am a repbublican just by name so I can vote on state and local stuff, but I don't trust anyone who leans far to either side so would not put it past my party people who might be doing this to give libs bad name, only my party by name I vote and think what I feel is best for me and my family. I have said it time after time i voted for clinton and thought he did a fine job who cares about he sex life I did not , I voted for bush who I say has sucked this time because IMO he was the lesser of the eviles both times, hell of a way to have to vote but if you don't vote you have no right to bitch.

Maybe 1 day there will be a real party of people who are middle class and really do think about others not just their rich friends or people with star names. Just reg joes like most of us and the US would be much better IMO. I would vote for buba again also.

Well Marry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

XMAS better be called Mary. I like all sayings. Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays. I even like. And to all a good night. But to those who want to damage property. My hunting rifles are gone. I still have two nice baseball bats. Youk know maybe a 3 iron would work well to.

I agree with you Fletch only I saw Bush as the most evil of two evils! I have said Happy Hollidays or "Have a Good Holiday for years without ever thinking about it. This year I have tried to remember to say Merry Christmas. I guess that is just the rebel in me coming out.

This is a very good wish, fletcher. I get very tired of the partisanship on both sides. I get really sick of listening to talk show hosts on both sides with the same side-backing rhetoric, and the posters that do the same. Of course, I am guilty of that same thing many times, and I should probably back it off a little. Although, that's kind of what I think these forums are for, to talk, discuss, argue, whatever.

I think that John McCain has taken some strong steps on these kinds of issues, kind of returning to a common sense, bridge-gapping kind of thinking. Campaign finance reforms, limiting money-flow, torture, etc. Politicians from both parties hop on board because it's the right thing to do as far as the people they represent is concerned.

People berate Bush and the administration on everything. People berate Clinton and his antics no matter what good he did. Truth be told, all Presidents have most likely done some good, some bad. Same for our representatives.

But until we get a handle on the money flowing into campaigns - and I don't know how to do this - this will never change. We have to keep trying, though. And it's up to the individual to seek more truth and be informed. I'd compliment the posters here, who at least care about things, and are strong in their beliefs. If more people were like us, in some ways, our system would probably work better.

Except for Charles... :moon:

(Just kidding, Charles...)
