I don't see the problem with this? If your making a ton of money, do you really need a 300-1200$ check from the gov. anyway??

People who make money, also tend to spend money. A 600 or 1200 check is worth getting and I'd be upset if I didn't get one when the majority of america is going to get it, and most likely, buy a flat screened tv, or a new laptop, or use it for a vacation.

so if i'm making 76k per year i dont need the money, but the guy next to me making 74k per year needs the money?

it's typical econimic class warfare......

tax cuts should be for EVERYBODY, even the "rich"

tax rebates should be for EVERYBODY, even the "rich"

It's not exactly about needing the money. They are trying to stimulate the economy, and i guess with what their budget is they decided to give the money to the lower class rather than the middle/upper, which is understandable.

Maybe everyone should then be compelled to pay this "rebate" right back to the government to pay their percentage of national debt service, which will go up the entire amount of the rebate?

The problem with this rebate is that many people will have to use this money only to pay for the debt they find themselves in now, when they were "fueling" the "steady" economy of the past few years. If not that, then, perhaps, their health care or their medicine costs.

I am honestly thinking this election could take a dramatic turn with an energized third party ticket. The economic craziness, the lack of a single strong candidate in either party right now, the ongoing war, so much uncertainty with world events, and general dissatisfaction with politicians on both sides.

The time is ripe for someone, I think. Maybe not to win this time, but to establish a movement, along the lines of the Loud Dobbs "Independence" Party movement. Maybe it's a combo of Bloomberg and someone else, the Nader factor galvanizing a minority along with it, I don't know. Just rambling here...

If its your gross pay, we are S.O.L. on seeing any $$--if its what we pay tax on...:00hour

This is all I've seen on it so far......
...........The rebates would phase out gradually for individuals whose income exceeds $75,000 and couples with incomes above $150,000, aides said. Individuals with incomes up to $87,000 and couples up to $174,000 would get partial rebates. The caps are higher for those with children.

Its adjusted not gross Redsfan--

Just got my wifes W2 in mail today--
fed income tax in 07 >$4344
State Tax $1556
SSN tax $2021
Medicare tax $462
City tax $622
on $32,609 income
Thats after taking off most of Dec to visit china.
Also works another job on weekends plus attends school 3 days a week.

Now considering 40% of people in U.S. pay no taxes I ask myself how does someone who came to U.S. less than 4 years ago with very limited use of english language-adjust and become a contributor to society and 40 million who been here all their life can't.
Answer is obvious--as immigrants of old -they come here seeking opportunity and found it--unfortunately there are people that see no opportunity only a free ride--and they found it too.
Bad news is the more you reward them the more they multiply--and vote:)

Give me a call. I'll have bilingual Chinese street signs all over Bowling Green before you can dial 1-800-CAL-ACLU. We will bring a little bit of South Florida to the bluegrass.

They don't need em Edward--Western KY has free classes for immigrants--95 % of students are Asian. She passed her driving license exam in English after 6 months here.

Fact of the matter Edward--you will find that diff ethnic entities excell in all aspects while others will remain at bottom--its cultural traits-you might find top of this list a little surprising but no doubt could have figured the rest.

Per Wikipedia-Medium income in U.S. per race
Asian$57,518
White$48,977
Hispanic$34,241
Black$30,134

Would make wager little wifes "net worth"( bout $60,000 saving-car/scooter-personal items and 0 debt) is greater than yours-:0corn
