Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
April 1945 near wars end, tank named "Fury" and its veteran crew battle in German territory.

Germany is near wars end, total war with children, elderly, everyone thrown into battle.

The Fury crew receive a raw rookie replacement with no war experience.

His name is Norman, 8 weeks from stateside, a mild mannered typist. (how he got assigned tank combat escaped me.)

His first assignment is to clean up the bloodied area in the tank where his predecessor was blown to bits.

Pitt, the tank commander Sgt Collier, tries at first to harden him up, the quick no nonsense hands on approach.

Pitt softens towards Norman and shows humanity, war reality takes its toll, Norman eventually becomes a semi-convincing convert to war and its harsh doctrine.

Don't want to give up much of a spoiler, liked the movie....Pitt summed it up early, "Idealism is for peace, History is for war"

Lots of battle gore, not for everyone.

I give it 2.5 stars out of 4

The movie is definitely worth seeing. As stated it is very graphic. But if you want to know what life in a tank during WW2 was all about along with the close quarter relationships of the crew. Take it in. Very well done.
Two thumbs up!

I have not seen it yet but will. Until then I am curious about what army this tank is part of.

Lol, are we being obtuse on purpose? Anyway, looked it up on wikipedia. It was the 2nd division under Patton's 3rd Army which was what I suspected.

Intersting factoid about tanks..

Intersting factoid about tanks..

Why was Ft Knox (south of Louisville Ky) chosen to be the sight to build a depository for all our nations billions of dollars worth of treasury's gold bars?

???

Answer...Ft Knox was headquarters for the Army Tank Corp, in the 1930's it was considered the most secure location in the entire USA.

Trivia......

Shia LaBeouf pulled out his own tooth and did not shower during filming.

:scared

Great scene at the end but one huge flaw was the S.S. was marching towards them in the daytime....then all of a sudden it was pitch black. WTF:shrug:

A dark, claustrophobic and foreboding depiction of how the "greatest generation" not only fought against the evil of Nazism, but also the monster within themselves...

Hudson Valley area.....NY
saw it the other night....really good...so many movies like Saving Private Ryan and many others are all out in the open fields...a few WW 2 movies in "bombers"....but this one is amazing in the confines of a tank...give it an 8 out of 10....
