I am a fan of the 1st movie with John Wayne - even though it is the slow and fat John Wayne. Not his best ever, but still a good movie.

This was a movie I watched as a small boy and it is what really got me interested in western movies in the first place.

This adaptation, is not exactly like the first movie, nor should it be. This is the Coen Bros. adaptation.

The first hour of this movie is so awesome, I can barely describe it's flawless acting, clever and never misplaced dialog in a complete sentence.

The last 10-15 min. leaves something to be desired although it is not a bad ending.

This is a great holiday treat - and I recommend it! :0074

so damn many movies these days fit this template...they get you interested and either the writer`s too lazy to provide an intereting finish or the finish just falls short of the body of the movie....

i watched a low budget gory treat last night called "the collector".......a fan of serial killer movies....

and even though you have to suspend belief regarding the booby traps and crazy contraptions the bad guy puts together, the ending is very satisfying.....

i enjoyed it...

not a horrible way to spend a cold winter evening...

Agree with Joker. The ending was bad and not needed.

Overall very entertaining. Being from Alabama, they sounded like family so no problems there.

Some good dialogue and a couple intelligent witty lines... (I wrote those down and my wife explained them later... :142smilie)

6.5/10

The KICKER:

During previews, they had a sci fi that showed an alien ship on the dark side of the moon.

I got pretty excited, and then I saw Michael Bay....

Transformers... oh the humanity... As Charles Barkley would say, "That's turrble. Jus' turrble."
