2* - Boston College (-2.5)
Boise?s WAC schedule has not given them much real competition although Hawaii took them to the wire in a 44-41 game back on October 2nd. When the Broncos have faced good football teams like Georgia, Oregon State and Fresno State, they have come away as losers. There is a reason that Boise has now won 31 consecutive games on this field and it has very little to do with the blue carpet. That record has remained intact primarily due to creative scheduling. Take a look at their home games this season: Bowling Green, Portland State, San Jose State, Nevada, New Mexico State and Idaho. Only three of those teams (Bowling Green, Portland State and Nevada) had a winning record this year and one of those two (Portland State) plays in Division 1AA. The remaining four teams have a total of seven wins between them.
Boise State's lack of size at the line of scrimmage was exposed against Louisville and Georgia, and Boston College poses a similar problem as the Eagles offensive line is the biggest in the ACC, averaging 6?-6? and 314 pounds. Boston College?s three losses this season have come at the hands of Florida State, Virginia Tech and North Carolina and their ACC schedule was much tougher than that of today? opponents. The Eagles own the longest bowl winning streak in the country, with victories in the last bowl seasons. Starting in 2000, Boston College has defeated Arizona State (Aloha), Georgia (Music City), Toledo (Motor City), Colorado State (San Francisco) and North Carolina (Continental Tire). In my opinion, Boise is a step down in class.
Bronco HC Dan Hawkins is coaching his last game at Boise after six seasons and the only game that he has lost on this field during his tenure was the first. A loss today will give him bookends as a going away present. Thanks Coach and enjoy your new job in Colorado.
