YTD: 1-0-0 Units staked: 3 Units won: 6.78 Total: +3.78 units

The first play of the day for me will be a small one on the Blackhawks at +209.

Predators had a good season last year, but became to small in the playoffs. They have signed players like Jason Arnot, Jozef Vasicek and J.P Dumont this summer, but they also lost players like Walker, Sillinger, Perreault, Witt, ++. In the pre-season Preds went 4-2 being perfect at home with 3-0.

Blackhawks have looked really good this pre-season. They have won all but one game and went 7-1. During the summer they have signed Martin Havlat, Tony Salmelainen, Michal Handzus and Bryan Smolinski. Khabibulin was close to a disaster in goal last season, and he has a lot to prove. He has looked great this pre-season, and he should have a much better season this year than last.

Preds are clearly the better team of these two, but Hawks have signed several players that should help them a lot. Especially if Khabibulin in goal can show what he is really made of. I cant lay of Hawks when the price is +209 the way they have played this pre-season, but I will only stake 1 unit as I am not sure at all how good Hawks really are.

Bet: Blackhawks ml +209 (ot included) 1 unit at Pinnacle.

Second bet of the day will be on Avs at +157.

Wild have signed a few decent players this summer, and they are now close to the salary cap. Demitra and Parrish is sure to help them score more goals so they will for sure be a team to look out for, as long as they can keep Manny Fernandez healthy. This pre-season they went 3-3, but lost 3 of their last 4 games.

Avs had their season opener last night against Dallas. They out-shot Dallas 32-14 in the first to periods, but had just 3 shots on goal in the third, as Stars rallied to tie the game and win it in overtime. Avs had a great pre-season and went 5-1.

Avs won 5 of 8 games against Wild last season, and during the last few years they are 10-6-1 when playing away against Wild. Of course it is a drawback that they play back to back games, but the season isn't underway yet, and the fatigue should be minimal. Avs had the great pre-season and have won a lot of games against the Wild before.

Bet: Avs ml +157 (ot included) 2 units at Pinnacle.

Pre-season means about this much ______. Don't be suckered into using a teams pre-season record when capping. eg. Oakland Raiders had a superb pre-season record this year.... good luck though.
