this move had nothing to do with ratings.... olberman's show has the best ratings of any show in the history of msnbc.. If they want ratings, he's the best they have.

Well the ratings were awful during the 2 conventions, coming in dead last.. thus they needed to make a shakeup.

MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" beat Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" in the key Adults 25-54 demographic for the first time ever last week.

"Countdown" averaged 477,000 viewers (A25-54) vs. O'Reilly's 472,000 (excluding Tuesday's primary coverage). This marks the first time that MSNBC has beaten Fox News in O'Reilly's 8pm time slot since June 2001.

He beat him for that certain demographic .. no where in there does it say he beat him for the total # of viewers. Anyway one win in like 2000 shows .. congrats

you are going to tell me how to get news ? you don't even understand my points.... spin it any way that makes you feel better....

Now let's see of Fox cleans up their act.

Stevie isn't it nice that we try to support a party who gets slapped down when someone calls out bullshit that simpletons can't see? Move on and the Betrayus fiasco where these spineless democrats went along with these sneaky Republican and denounced what Moveon said? Olberman is about ready to snap the same reason you , me, Jabber, Eddie, and DJV are. That is what happens when you get sick of seeing lies over and over again but what is sicker is these jackasses that suck them up like they are fact. We have no party bud. As for the other realist, i didn't name you guys cause you deal with it a little better.
Stevie where is the Republicans hiding this no good lying c unt? Not one talk show on Sunday? 60 days away from being a heart beat away from being the president of the united states and this no good lying bitch is in hiding so she doesn't have to answer to the crock of shit she has been spreading. this woman is a beauty. where did they find this thing? You hear she sold the state jet on Ebay for a profit. First she didn't sell it on ebay but thru a broker cause nobody wanted it the three times she tried to sell it on EBay. She then sold it for 2,100,000., rom 2,700,00. How do they come up with a profit here:shrug: Dam this liberal media finally got Keith.

why this move now ??? olbermann just beat oreilly for the first time.................http://thinkprogress.org/2008/06/10/olbermanns-ratings-top-oreillys/

what does your link and Huffington Post
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/10/countdown-beats-oreilly-f_n_106298.html

-- have in common on their June 10 ratings claim.

they both omit to say where ratings were taken from--can anyone verify find their source--

Which led me to be skeptical as always--per the sources :)

so did search on june 10 cable news ratings and got this-

the points that I make in this thread have nothing to do with keith beating bill...... olbermann is their best ratings & they still made this move... why ? if msnbc is so left and I think they are, why move before the election ??? if you don't follow, save me the smoke screens... and keep following the yellow brick road.........

Although he is a puss at least Fox has Colmes opposite Hannity, and there are guys like Juan Williams and Krauthammer is a lifelong Dem., and so on. All MSNBC has is Buchanon and he isnt even a Republican any longer.

And while Olberman's viewers are up the ratings as compared to the competition arent up at all - there are simply more viewers all around. I doubt hardly any 18-28 folks ever watched O Reilly

Sun, one correction Krauthammer is not a dem . He is a pretty hard core long time repub and makes no bones about it. For the guy who keeps pointing to Rachel Maddow she makes dems look like fools so you should want her to stay on MSNBC. That kind of shill gives the dems a bad name. I think O'Reilly is somewhat fair but the Hannity show is a total set up with the all his buddies coming on and settting him up with the ugly Alan Colmes.

This is a "hard core long time Republican?"

In 1978, Krauthammer quit medical practice to direct planning in psychiatric research for the Jimmy Carter administration, and began contributing to The New Republic magazine. During the presidential campaign of 1980, Krauthammer served as a speech writer to Vice President Walter Mondale.

In 1981, following the defeat of the Carter/Mondale ticket, Krauthammer began his journalistic career, joining The New Republic as a writer and editor

Krauthammer is generally considered a conservative or neoconservative.[20] However, on domestic issues, Krauthammer is a supporter of legalized abortion[21][22][23]; an opponent of the death penalty[24][25][26][27]; an intelligent design critic and an advocate for the scientific consensus on evolution, calling the religion-science controversy a "false conflict;" [28][29], a supporter of embryonic stem cell research (involving embryos discarded by fertility clinics); [30][31][32] and a longtime advocate of radically higher energy taxes to induce conservation.[33][34][35][36] Meg Greenfield, editorial page editor for The Washington Post who edited Krauthammer's columns for 15 years, called his weekly column "independent and hard to peg politically. It's a very tough column. There's no 'trendy' in it. You never know what is going to happen next."[1]

That said today yeah is certainly more in the Republican camp, but he and Pat Caddell seem to be the most non-partisan acting guys on tv.

Well Keith certainly learned his lesson....took him all of 16 words to call McCain a "liar" in tonight's episode....

Forgetting his views for a moment-I cant believe anyone would pay this guy $4 million to talk about "news" as if he has any qualifications at all. If he wants a radio talk show peachy...but he shouldnt be doing "news."

unfortunately democrats don`t understand "nuance"...

i basically agree with pretty much everything krauthammer does(aside from the death penalty)...

Good history. One other point for everyone, being anti abortion is not "conservative". Conservative means less governnment and the republicans want more laws and government regulaiton on the procedure. The repubs like Hannity conveniently term that conservative and its not.

The one that surprise's me is Greta. Im not sure why anyone would watch. Well maybe woman. O'Rilley looks like a up tick. Is that from Obama interview?
And it looks like Shep and Hume are down a little.
And Keith is up some.
I agree surprise is new show Maddow. She has been on only two weeks. At least I believe she only start after conventions. We will see if she's good enough to hold or grow those numbers.
