QUATERBACK

MTSU: Dwight Dasher led the Blue Raiders in rushing (61) last week and threw for 204 and a touchdown. However, he did throw three interceptions.

MEMPHIS: Arkelon Hall is a big and strong quarterback with a strong arm. However, he is often inconsistent and threw two interceptions in a 45-14 loss to Ole Miss.

EDGE: MTSU

RUNNING BACK

MTSU: Dasher was MTSU's most effective runner against Clemson, although senior Phillip Tanner, who had 36 yards, is capable of a big game.

MEMPHIS: Stopping Curtis Steele (90 yards vs. Ole Miss) will be a big key for the Blue Raiders. He's a big and physical back and has a very good backup in Lance Smith.

EDGE: Memphis

RECEIVER

MTSU: MTSU needs sophomore Malcom Beyah (ankle injury) to get healthy in a hurry. Sancho McDonald and Desmond Gee need to be more involved.

MEMPHIS: The Tigers are loaded at receiver, led by 6-foot-4 wide out Duke Calhoun. Senior Carlos Singleton, a 6-foot-9 wideout, poses obvious match up problems.

EDGE: Memphis

OFFENSIVE LINE

MTSU: The Blue Raiders had an average game against a very good Clemson defensive front. A strong performance today could lead to a Blue Raider victory.

MEMPHIS: Memphis' front is very inexperience, but it is a massive group with a lot of potential. Paving the way for Steele will be a key to the Tigers success tonight.

EDGE: Even

DEFENSIVE LINE

MTSU: The Blue Raiders played well up front against Clemson and will need a similar effort tonight. Stopping the run will be a key, as well as pressuring QB Arkelon Hall.

MEMPHIS: Memphis has a big and athletic front that could pose problems. Putting pressure on MTSU QB Dwight Dasher will be the Tigers' biggest key.

EDGE: Even

DEFENSIVE BACK

MTSU: The Blue Raiders have a solid secondary, but one that faces a stiff test. If the defensive line can pressure QB Arkelon Hall, it will certainly be a plus.

MEMPHIS: The Tigers have good experience in the defensive backfield, led by senior cornerback Deante Lamar and junior cornerback D.A. Griffin.

EDGE: Even

SPECIAL TEAMS

MTSU: The Blue Raiders allowed a kickoff and punt return for touchdowns last week at Clemson. The coverage teams can't afford such breakdowns against Memphis.

MEMPHIS: The Tigers have solid return teams, led by D.A. Griffin. Memphis senior Matt Regan handles both the place-kicking and punting duties.

EDGE: Even
