Musberger also said that Emmitt Smith had the best balance out of any running back. For some reason I guess he never watched Barry Sanders. The guy lived on his balance. At a later part of the game he said "and look at his (Ingram) power" when Ingram actually had just juked a guy and was hardly even touched. I think Musberger might be the idiot.

I disagree with you on that, with all do respect. Barry Sanders was one of the most elusive backs to ever play the game, a much different running style than Emmitt Smith. Emmitt's balance was his strength because, like Ingram, he doesn't have game breaking speed, but because he ran most of the time with shoulders square, he could run with much more power. Ingram and Smith do a great job of falling forward because they are able to hit with as much power as they get hit. Yards after contact with those two

Sanders didn't have great yards after contact because you couldn't catch the son of a bitch to try and contact him:mj07:

With the way he carried the ball, he wouldn't make it in this era. 2 fumbles a game min. I've never noticed that aspect of old time game tapes until now. Players didn't go for the ball back then.

I would take Jim Brown on my team any day.

Jim Brown at 6' 2" 235 with speed, elusivness,
and full power running back.

:scared

And this was before steriods.

He was also the toughest SOB on the feild most games. I read one time he would never show it when he was injured. He got up slow after every play so people wouldnt know when he was injured. He never missed games .

Probably kind of hard to deal with some of his
thinking on things outside of football. But if you could cross that bridge, wow what a player you got .

Its possible that Brown would fumble, but he also didnt play in an era where the field was so spread out which creates huge running lanes which he would of rambled. Not only was Brown a great RB, but he excelled at catching passes and kick returns. You also have to keep in mind that the tackling skills in todays game have regressed, as players tend to go for the ball and make arm tackles which Brown would have ran through their arm tackles. In my opinion, there is no back currently plaing in the NFL that is anywhere near the caliber of Brown, Sanders and Payton.

Could not agree more with that statement MC. There are very few DBs that even try to tackle any more. They just dive in front or runners. I would like to know if they are still teaching kids in high school to square up, stay low, and lock up.

Tomlinson could have been there, but I have been very disappointed with him in the post season. It seems every time they get down in the postseason, he gets hurt. I remember Sanders playing a divisional playoff game against the Redskins very banged up and Emmitt playing he 2nd half of a game with a separated shoulder just so they could get home field advantage in the playoffs. Little LT has to do some soul searching if he wants to be considered great.
