My Computer Question

On my parents computer anytime you open access to the internet, and actually most programs on there, they hose up after like 20 minutes or so. What I mean is it just freezes up and you have to hit cntrl, alt, delete and than go to end task all that bullshit. Sometimes you have to turn the damn thing off to get it back to normal. it seems like the computer has some sort of bug in it or needs to be cleaned out somehow.

My question was, is there any programs out there than can clean out the hard drive or anything like that. I did all that virus shit and stuff, but it comes back normal.

Any help would be great.

If programs are hanging up, you may just need to defrag your hard drive.

If you are running Windows then your computer will have the program on it.

Go to START--SEARCH--type DISK DEFRAG

A few files will come up, click the one that says DISK DEFRAGMENTER.

Defrag your disks, this will take a few hours probably if you have never done this.


Good luck with it, let me know if you have any further problems if you do this.

Yea i forgot to add this too...

I tried to defrag and it stays on 1% and 2%. i let go all night and the next morning, it was still on 1 and 2% dont know what the problem is. ill try it again and see if it works, but i doubt it.

SCANDISK your hard drive first!

scandisk is next to defrag.

make sure you choose "thorough"

turn off everything thats running, except windows

disable screen saver

run scandisk

turn off monitor

goto sleep

in the morning yer hard drive errors should be fixed

now defrag!
