If your dad was anything like you, I'm sure you guys had alot of fun times together. Memories are what makes a life....think of all the good times and funny moments you shared and take solace in knowing he's in a much better place. Of course you'll miss him, but try to be strong for the rest of your family.

Not long ago someone in this forum posted a great poem about a person passing on, but I can't remember who. The poem was titled "I'm Free" and the last paragraph says...

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me.
At last I'm free, be glad for me...

Best wishes in your time of sorrow.....

BTJ-

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your father. My mother passed in early Jan. and you helped me with a post. It is the probably the hardest thing to get over with the passing of a parent. It takes time but believe me it does get somewhat better. The ache of the loss lessens and you tend to remember the good times.

Again sorry for the loss

SCREAMIN MY FATHER AND I WERE TOTAL OPPOSITES HE NEVER GAMBLED IN HIS LIFE HE WORKED HARD UNTIL HE WAS 65 I RETIRED AT 41 HE LIVED THROUGH THE DEPRESSION.THE FACTS ARE WHEN I WAS GROWING UP NONE OF MY FRIENDS WERE CLOSE TO THERE PARENTS IT WAS JUST A WAY OF LIFE WE NEVER TALKED ABOUT SEX,I NEVER SWORE IN FRONT OF MY PARENTS WE RESPECTED EACH OTHER BUT THERE WAS NEVER ANY LOVEY DOVEY LIKE THE YUPPIES DO WITH THERE KIDS TODAY.AND TO BE HONEST WITH YOU I LIKE THE OLD TIME PARENTS LIKE MINE A LOT BETTER THAN TODAYS BREAST FEEDING IN PUBLIC YUPPIES.YOUR PARENTS DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD FOR YOU BUT EXPECTED NOTHING IN RETURN THIS WAS OLDTIME LOVE.WHEN I WAS A KID IT WAS REALLY HARD TO TELL YOUR PARENTS YOU LOVED THEM IT WAS ALMOST LIKE LOVE WAS A SIGN OF WEAKNESS IN THE DEPRESSION FAMILIES YOU WERE BROUGHT UP TO FEND FOR YOURSELF AND NOT LOOK FOR SYMPATHY.I DONT KNOW WHAT I AM SAYING RIGHT NOW BUT I AM SURE SOME OF THE OLDTIMERS IN THE FORUM CAN RELATE

I'm sorry Jim I will say a prayer tonight and tomorrow in church for you. Remember the good times and know your father is probably smiling looking down from above.
