You're right, Poon.

This will go absolutely downhill quicker than shit, and I regret even saying anything now.

You guys have fun, and stay safe.

I drank while I was there Friday night and Saturday. I was never drunk or inebriated, maybe buzzed and enjoying myself but I do that regardless of outside influences. Some guys go there to cut loose and have fun.

I do think that some people need to realize that just because people are around alcohol and seem to be loud and boisterous doesn't mean they are drunk. Some are just loud and boisterous and there to have fun with good people. If that scared anyone off, or if me belly flopping into a pool or something of that nature scared someone away from going and having their own fun, well tough shit, get over yourself. If anyone, and I mean anyone, has that much influence on their day...........they need to spend their money and time on therapy not golf outings.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Drunks are the reason I stopped going.

I'm all for people having a great time, I'm asking if you could have a fun golf outing without getting wasted?

I get the feeling you could, but no one wants to be the "pussy" in the crowd. Just seems like there are quite a few, "Holy shit....what did I do to myself last night" moments, after-the-fact.

Someone mentioned less people show up every year. You guys might want to look into that. Or fuck it.

:toast:

Trying to understand your comments..... So, in the early days of the golf outings, No one drank alcohol on the course?

BTW I played both Friday and Saturday, no one was "wasted" in either group

Did we have a few drinks? Come on man, this isn't a boy scouts outing

Hey, I wasn't there.....just reading what you guys are writing.

The early outings had drinking, sure! People even got well into their cups back at Jack's house if I recall correctly.

I don't remember people breaking clubs or golf carts, though. I don't remember employees having to redirect any of us at any point of the day/evening, either.

In short, no one put themselves above the group.

I have been to 3 golf outings (need to get back again if my summers would ever cooperate with family and everything), none of the times have I ever got wasted. I might have been buzzed 1 time playing golf but even then. I am a pretty calm guy so I don't get all riled up.

People do what they want and it doesn't stop me from going or coming back.

I agree that some guys do it because it is a guys weekend type of thing, but you do what you have to do.

I think less people come due to travel and costs etc then the drinking. Just have to find the sweet spot for everything. :toast:

Maybe those things did happen but you were just too drunk to remember?

For what it is worth, I didn't see any clubs broken, nor any broken anything for that matter including carts.

As far as anyone putting themselves above the group, that is the second time I have heard that term used and I think the context is better used to describe someone that expects a group of people to adopt their own personal limits and ethics rather than allowing the group to interact and set it's own pace. It would stand to reason that since there is still a "group" attending, nobody feels like anyone put them self above the rest.

Hope this helps,

It's funny you would write that, Chris. I have seen videos, and read the "stories" from the last couple outings, and that sounds a lot like this guy:

It would be easier to take you seriously if you did more than attend 2 outings and bet 900 prop bets and then leave.:0008

Your last few posts are taking a jab at people who do shit.

I told MJ at the outing that yyz was one of the guys I'd love to meet. He had nothing but good things to say. I hope that alcohol does not get in the way of having that opportunity.

I'll be shining if I get a chance to meet the GDRC

Then he went on to tell me how great Sportsaholic was and how we needed to surprise him with a Maine trip. So Jack's credibility took a bit of a hit, but I still would like to meet yyz.

It's funny you would write that, Chris. I have seen videos, and read the "stories" from the last couple outings, and that sounds a lot like this guy:

To be honest brother, that dive into the pool was something that I decided to do as we were leaving the parking lot to go get dressed for dinner and leaving the golfing thing behind for the day. I mentioned that I thought it would be funny while all that wanted to were standing in a parking lot. Those that thought I was kidding or just wanted a laugh decided to go with me. It lasted all of one minute and I was not there "representing" nor did I require the group to attend. Those that didn't want to go didn't. I did it because I thought it was funny. I didn't hurt a soul, I didn't make anyone feel bad about them self. I didn't require anyone to rise to my level of playfulness nor do I think I put myself ahead of the group.

I think it is unreasonable to go to a gathering of personalities and expect everything to go just how I want things to go, or to please everyone. If my actions made someone uncomfortable, I am sorry, but I don't think they did. If anything, any one of the people that truly know me would hopefully tell you that I do care about my friends. I care that they are okay and enjoying themselves etc... I don't just run over people or disregard their feelings. If you were at an outing and met me I am pretty confident you would change your mind about who I am but that's just me.

Seriously, I truly hope that you not coming because of the actions or presumptions about guys like me isn't the case. Anyway, cheers bro.

Hope this helps,
FDC

That is way out of line. How about you get off your high horse and understand he was just asking a reasonable question?

Yea, you are better than us because you were there, we get it.

Get over yourself - you obviously have no clue about a sense of humor - I have been to 3 outings so I don't think I should be knighted by Jack just yet

I am fairly easy going but an extreme smartass so don't take thins so seriously Dr Phil

Christ get off your high horse. So you chose to stop going because the drinking was more than you cared for, nothing wrong with that. But to paint with such a broad brush is a bit ridiculous. Kids are the reason BBC and I haven’t gone recently. Other people have mentioned family obligations. Others have mentioned that they simply couldn’t afford to make the trip.

No one wants to be the “pussy”. You are probably right, I look at all the guys that attended and think several just succumbed to peer pressure and went along with it because it seemed like the cool thing to do. Glad you can put them in their place with a pot shot from afar after the fact.

I swear Poon I hope you can come to an outing soon - your screen name alone lets me know we would have a great time

I had to sandwich the trip between two of my sons swim meets so I know how it is - I missed Super Bowl to coach his basketball team

No doubt family comes first
